Push Square is one of the internet's leading video gaming sites and a large portion of that reputation has been built up by honest and impartial review scores.
However, as the site expands the cost of operating it also increases. The realities of running such a popular site mean that we have to make use of banner and site-skinning advertising campaigns to generate money which is put back into the site in the form of server hosting, game/hardware purchases, travel costs when visiting developers/trade shows, and so on.
Many of these campaigns are directly linked to the products and games reviewed on the site itself - which we feel is perfectly acceptable and ethical as Push Square's core audience is exactly the same group that publishers are desperate to communicate with.
These campaigns have NO BEARING WHATSOEVER on the review scores we award. All advertising agreements are conducted by a dedicated team and NOT by the staff reviewing the games themselves. There is no question of favoritism, bias or bribery; if an advertiser approached us suggesting that we offer positive scores in exchange for lucrative advertising deals, we would simply decline without hesitation and refuse to carry any further campaigns from that company.
Here at Push Square we value our integrity - without it, we would not have the dedicated and loyal readership we have today. While we can certainly appreciate that carrying adverts from major publishers can cause concerns, we hope that this explanation outlines our policy as clearly as possible.
If you have any questions or concerns regarding our advertising policy, please feel free to come and discuss it with us.
