Australia are pretty strict with what they will and won’t release. Their ratings system does not go past “MA15+” meaning any games not suitable for 15 year olds don’t get release. Ridiculous right? Exactly.
God Of War III looks particularly brutal. Even we, as grown adults, cringed at some of the details present in the E3 demo. Still, we definitely don’t want the game to be toned down. It’s designed that way. It’s meant to be visceral and gritty.
In an interview with Screen Play, God Of War III’s art director Sean Cunningham has voiced his concerns of that the game may never get an Australian release. Likewise he said that the team are constantly checking with censors with some of their ideas being shot down. God Of War III had even more violent intentions? Blimey.
Expect a massive media uproar when the game releases. God Of War III is likely to push the ratings board as far as is absolutely possible.
