Sony fans are understandably felling pretty alienated now.
But Capcom denies any wrong-doing. Co-producer Shinsaku Ohara told Eurogamer:
I think [Keiji] Inafune said that were sorry that it seems like youre getting a little bit less of the Dead Rising 2 universe, but youll still be able to enjoy the full game, he said.
Youll just miss a little bit of extra. We havent completely alienated PS3 gamers because Dead Rising 2 is a standalone boxed product.
At the beginning we didnt know that this new IP would be a success, but the fans on the console really assisted in making it into one.
So its like a present, something that we gave back to the original Dead Rising fans.
The original Dead Rising fans don't exactly need a welcome into the franchise though do they? It's PlayStation 3 owners who need selling on the franchise, not the current fanbase. We understand why Capcom would want to give back to the fans; but at this point we're not sure why they're bothering trying to carry it across to PS3. We're fine with them trying to reward their fans. Just don't try and extract money from a new market if you don't care about making them feel welcome.
