We can't quite believe it -- the constantly delayed Uncharted movie sounds like it's actually going to happen. Head of PlayStation Worldwide Studios Hermen Hulst has confirmed that shooting will begin for the film later this month with Sony itself said to be "very excited" about the project as a whole.
Speaking on the PlayStation Blog, Hulst said: "We’re very excited. The Uncharted film starts shooting this month with Columbia Pictures. It’s got a great cast — Tom Holland, Mark Wahlberg, and recently announced Antonio Banderas. It’s going to be a really fun movie, [it] will help reach audiences who maybe haven’t heard of Uncharted before."
The man himself then goes on to confirm that much more is in the pipeline for PlayStation Productions alongside the recently announced TV adaptation of The Last of Us. So, there we have it. With shooting scheduled to be starting in the next couple of weeks, it looks like the Uncharted movie could actually hit its projected release date of 5th March 2021. It's been a very, very rocky road for the film, but the light at the end of the tunnel could be in sight.

So it's ACTUALLY happening then
never thought i would see the day
I can still be wrong but I had a huge feeling that you guys would eat your own words xD
It's happening.
Until I see an actual trailer or two for this movie I won't truly believe it exists and with the amount of directors they've gone through to get this far I don't have very much faith and how good the movie is going to be in the first place
They're probably the only ones excited by it.
Perhaps I'd be more interested if they revisited the awful casting - but I doubt it.
At last. How long has it been. Well, I can now celebrate my retirement and use my bus pass to go see the film at a discounted rate.
Sony saw that Monster Hunter movi and thought "sure, why not".
I hope Nolan North and Emily Rose have cameos.
I can't believe it's actually going to happen.
@KALofKRYPTON I don't think the cast is that bad? Makes sense to do Younger Drake, right? Distance it from the games, but still have it connected.
@get2sammyb Im still not convinced it wont face another delay. You watch Coronavirus postpone the start of production!
@get2sammyb
It really is though.
Holland is crap for starters. Genuinely. He also really can't maintain an american accent in any convincing way and just doesn't have the look.
Wahlberg is perhaps less of a terrible an actor, but again - he's no Sully!
I get the wish to start Drake younger. The plan is undoubtedly to try and kick-start a movie franchise. I think the biggest issue it will have is finding the mystical wider audience it will need.
The games are cinematic enough that there's really not much left that could be put on screen that'll feel like a new experience for people who've played the games (even if the casting were great, I'm not sure I need to see or would make the effort to go and see an Uncharted film).
So you have to then look elsewhere for your box office and really hope for a favourable release date.
"It's got a great cast."
"Mark Wahlberg."
So, not a great cast then. Unless his character has been rewritten to be a dull simpleton from Boston who has been stealing a living for years and once blinded a guy in a racially motivated attack, before apologising to the pope for the only good film he's ever done.....
I was blasé about the film, now I actually want it to fail.
@LiamCroft b-but what about COVID-19 threat? i m pretty sure The Project will getting halt again )
@parvaz1 Dont' know about filming Uncharted but it looks like they've already started filming the first episode of The Last of Us in New York.

@get2sammyb Uncharted will be fine for people who know what it is, a fun adventure movie, Holland and Marky Mark are fine for their parts.
DELAYED due to coronavirus.... HAHAHHAHAHAH
I bet it ends up getting cancelled.....
