I bought at launch and I have a ton of games for it. Honestly buy a lot more VR titles than not. Though Sony should have done more to support it, just as it stands I probably have more than enough to keep me entertained. Current price is totally worth it if you’re half interested.
Of course I don’t love paying for things, but Sony would really have to go out their way in fumbling to get me to consider an Xbox in the first place…the subscription cost barely factors into that equation for me.
My PS Plus Premium is up for renewal at the end of July, and certainly evaluating whether I want to downgrade my account. On the one hand, I wish it was cheaper, of course. We all remember when it was much cheaper, and when you used to be able to buy discounted memberships. On the other hand, there are a lot of (good) games on there that I can play and a lot of games I would never even try, but do, because they are there. If I gain a couple PS Plus monthly games that I actually play and play a few Ps Plus extra / premium games all the way through…per year it probably breaks close to even value-wise.
The worst sting to me over the last year in the service is actually when they pulled most of the PSVR2 titles. VR titles especially, IMHO benefit from at least a trial to determine if they are worth it. Sony isn’t doing enough to filter out the shovelware that creeps over from Meta’s third party titles that get ported to PSVR2.
Also disappointing to eliminate the Stars program, as that did equate to probably $15 per year of value for me. Even if they made that just part of the Premium tier, I think that would make sense.
I just beat the first and am currently playing through the second. I never played these games when they were new, I just remember playing a demo disc. They are good, look pretty decent considering what they are…but they are true to the originals - there are no modern QOL additions…you will have to manually save, you have to remember where things are (the first game at least relies on a lot of areas needing revisiting), and if you die or quit the game you will start at the very beginning (there is a warp area nearby but a little tedious….I just learned to never quit the game, left it paused, and it’s difficult to actually die). Combat and camera is clunky, and some areas are more frustrating in design (easy to fall, etc) than particularly difficult. Directions on where / how to proceed in the game from the narrator can be vague at times. If you’re looking to play a classic and campy PS1/2 title with enhanced graphics, quirks and all, then you won’t be disappointed. But if lacking a modern play experience will turn you off, you may not enjoy it as much.

@Kidfunkadelic83 @zed
Not a remake, just remasters.
