@Rugga Things have changed since PS1. Consoles are already at a hardware disadvantage compared to PC, and they cannot make zero upgrades for 8+ years of a console generation. I'm not saying it's worth upgrading mid-gen if you got the base model, but if you come in later, as you did, why wouldn't you get the newer console?
To answer that last question, no I'm not happy they're targeting the base PS4. That console is incredibly out of date, and the PS5 is coming out in a few months. Really, though, I'd just rather Naughty Dog was not PS exclusive. That is the main reason I bought a PS4 Pro, but the whole gaming experience is much better on my Xbox One X. The game would certainly run better on that. Though, there is a good chance I switch to PC next (not for a few years).
