@SirEvilJebus Thank you. My point, exactly. The disc drive in every console has worked the exact same for decades (Nintendo, PlayStation, XBOX). Label faces the logo. For PlayStation especially, the logo stays to the left when vertical. It's been like this for so long, how are people still confused with how to insert their games?
@Flaming_Kaiser That's what I'm saying. Every PlayStation console that could be stood vertically has had the label facing left. PlayStation has never been a company for making big, drastic changes. So why would they change how the disc is put in the machine when it's been the same for every PlayStation console?
@Easytheretiger No, but it should be common sense to gamers both new and old that the label of the disc faces the top of the console (Shown by which side has the console logo). This has been the same for every PlayStation console, sans the original. And if you look at the Wii, sure the label faces right instead of left, it still faces the top of the console or the side with the Wii name on it. And, again as I said before, we've already been shown how the console SHOULD be set down on a tabletop through adverts and commercials which also shows us how the disc should be placed in it.
@Matroska Couldn't open the picture but I understand your point. Only problem is, placement of the disc drive shouldn't automatically dictate one's thinking process on how the disc goes in the drive. Especially after we've had multiple generations of consoles changing the placement of said drive and the direction in which the label faces had stayed constant. Add on top of that, that every livestream, advert, and commercial for the PS5 has shown the console both vertical and horizontal. If the fans and consumers are being shown both ways of placing the console on their TV stand, it baffles me how they can get the disc wrong.
@Matroska Ah, okay. Got the joke now. But regarding how the disc is put in, it's still the same as the PS1, simply turned on its side. Label faces up when the console is laying down and label faces left when vertical. The direction of the readable surface doesn't change simply because the console moves. The laser that reads the disc can only be in one place.
@Matroska Normally, I'd be inclined to agree with you. However, we're talking about a console that hasn't changed how it functions since it's original launch in 1994. Twenty-six years, the PlayStation has been around. Three generations before now that it's had the ability to be stood vertically and they've all had the disc placed in the drive the exact same way. The fact that people STILL can't figure out how to put the game in correctly, much less safely, is just sad and disappointing.
