As with the first two, the game has pacing issues. Even small side quests can take a long time to complete and without a shorter reward loop you never come out of a session feeling like you’ve achieved that much.
I watched the video and the backgrounds/tracks look pretty stylised to me, in tune with the car aesthetic. The cars pop a bit more but I think that aids visual clarity
Post patch the game is considerably less fun. Weapons have been heavily nerfed/enemies made spongier and they have reduced the ammo box amounts to the point where you’ll frequently run out of ammo. Party windows have been reduced, the chain sword can’t perfect parry anymore and the mobs are more frequent and much bigger.
There’s also been an odd change to the visuals, some weird saturation thing or contrast change and the game does look worse than before.
There’s a vignette at the corners of the screen that also doesn’t help the aesthetic.
It’s not like this was an especially easy game to begin with. I played with 2 friends and we all have +30 hours and couldn’t finish the new operations map on normal difficulty.
I know gamers like to moan but this is a real fun stripping patch. They added a new difficulty level which is great if you want a hardcore challenge but most of the adjustments affect every threat/difficulty level. It’s just amazing that they thought this would go down well with the average player base.
I played a couple of hours worth this evening and I think it’s brilliant, the best shooter of its kind since Overwatch. Once you gel with a character and learn their move set it gets very satisfying bounding all over the place and nailing shots.
I wasn’t too fussed about it until I actually played it but I get it now. I really hope it does well as I’ll be picking it up for sure.
It looks like the PS4 version in the footage is running on a PS5 and as a result, at 60fps.Maybe running the PS4 version on a PS4 might be more representational.
Still, no one who already owns this is buying the upgrade for the shadows, they’re buying it for No Return and Cut Content.

It’s not Interstellar travel, it’s interplanetary. Interstellar is travelling between stars.
