I waited until about a month before the DLC came out to play the base game. One of the best gaming decisions I ever made. Was able to roll right into the DLC after finishing up the base game. It’s phenomenal.
@CRASH64 the backwards compatibility boost, while nice, is so weird. Maybe try Elden Ring on the Pro after the update hits in March (that’s supposed to be a game changer). Might be worth it to wait just for that.
@CRASH64 FromSoft should find a way to make their games look and perform better then. Whether that be hiring devs with better technical performance expertise, upgrading or improving their in-house engine, etc.
Their games are great, but they could definitely use a performance boost from time to time. Seems like a self-inflicted problem really 😆
@NieR_Dark ah, that one. Finding that perfect balance between attacking and dodging was a real fine line in that fight. Good one though. Real satisfying feeling once you win!
@NieR_Dark The one with the difficulty spike? Name starts with an H? 😆
That was more or less the only boss so far that’s felt like I was smashing my head against a wall. All the others previously were a fun test of my skills. That one is an endurance and patience tester lol
@ryan_nil Good thing I stopped months ago on my NG+ run when I got to Simon Manus. Simon Manus is significantly more powerful in NG+ and I just gave up 😆.
The DLC on NG++ would probably hit like a sledgehammer
@Jrs1 glad I’m not the only one. Made it about 7 hours in and bored would be an understatement. Will only give the new one a shot if Kojima drastically ups the entertainment and engagement factor.
Lies of P - Overture Lost Soul Aside Tides of Annihilation
Lies of P is my favorite Soulslike (not made by FromSoft) and the trailer for its DLC looked dynamite. Lost Soul Aside and Tides of Annihilation look excellent as well.
@ZeD Awesome to hear!! Enjoy and remember that this game will periodically kick your ass but when you expect that to happen, the blow to the ego hurts less 😆
@ZeD no worries. Hahahha that Bear! I remember that. I burst out laughing when it appeared out of nowhere and stomped my character. Pretty sure I downed him arrows from a distance. What makes Elden Ring so special IMO is that a long specific combat scenario you encounter can be solved a ton of different ways. I do recommend sticking with it but if it’s not fo your, it’s not for you and that’s okay.
@ZeD Have you gone exploring prior to getting to the castle gates? Exploration is so, so key to the Elden Ring experience. Not doing enough exploring contributes to making the game more difficult than it is…and it’s easier and more accessible than any other Soulslike from FromSoftware. Exploring is the best in this game.
Ran the benchmark on my PC (7900X & 4080 Super) and got 112FPS. This is with DLSS and Multi-frame generation enabled. Was getting 80 FPS average without frame generation enabled.
Played the 1st Beta on PS5 on quality mode and didn’t have any performance issues. Hopefully it stays that way and works well in performance mode. Ditto PSSR on the Pro!
The character looks exactly like the actor. I don’t see how that’s a problem. It’s a video game character for gosh sakes. The gameplay is the thing that matters the most. I don’t care how the player character looks
There’s no blocking in BMW, so you’ve gotta become a dodge master. That makes for some serious “adrenaline rush go boom” boss encounters lol. I can see why some find it too hard though. Combat is lightning fast in a lot of the boss fights. Some are so intense you almost shake from the thrill of it afterward. I didn’t know what to expect from that game but man…it is a good time.
I found Elden Ring to be by far the easiest FromSoft Soulslike game. I only really struggled with Malenia and the final boss in the DLC. But I got em both eventually lol. Some take longer than others of course due to just memorizing their movesets and finding the best strategy for em.
Black Myth Wukong is significantly easier than Elden Ring IMO. Had some of the best boss battles I’ve ever experienced gaming too. Loved it. Performance issues definitely need to be adequately patched though.
Yeah, Wukong definitely allows you to exploit powerful Bosses weaknesses.
Definitely not as hard as Elden Ring. There’s around 100 bosses and “maybe” 3 of em’ are up there in difficulty with the likes of Elden Rings toughest bosses.
Haven’t played Wo Long so I’m unable to give you an informed answer on that one.

@lazarus11 just double-checked. Seems like no. Thought I read that I did a little bit ago. Apologies!

@CRASH64 heck yeah! Do it!

Re: The Possibility of Ghost of Yotei DLC Could Be Down to You
A standalone DLC focused entirely on Mad Goro would be awesome. Absolutely hilarious NPC in the base game.
Re: Game of the Month: Silent Hill F (September 2025)
My game of the month for September was Cronos: The New Dawn. At times, this game is punishing but I periodically like that when I’m gaming 😆.
I disliked Silent Hill f. Its combat is clunky and janky. Beyond irritating. It’s not for me but I’m glad that other people enjoyed it

Can’t wait for this. I NEED a release date man…
Re: PS5 Action RPG The First Berserker: Khazan Didn't Meet Sales Expectations, But Nexon's Oddly Unbothered
It was a fun game. A certain boss was really irritating but the rest of the boss fights in the game were thrilling.
Regular enemy variety could’ve been better. Otherwise though, solid game.

Re: Poll: What Were Your Favourite PS5 Games from State of Play?
In no particular order:
Lies of P - Overture
Lost Soul Aside
Tides of Annihilation
Lies of P is my favorite Soulslike (not made by FromSoft) and the trailer for its DLC looked dynamite. Lost Soul Aside and Tides of Annihilation look excellent as well.
Re: Lies of P DLC Overture Announced, Coming to PS5, PS4 This Summer
Oh hell yes! The base game is my favorite Soulslike not developed by FromSoft. Can’t wait for this!!
Re: Preview: Elden Ring Nightreign Is the Most Interesting PS5, PS4 Multiplayer Game of 2025
@ZeD Best advice I can give: fail and learn their attack patterns through experience and further failure. It’s the Soulslike way.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 550
The First Berserker: Khazan Closed Beta Test. This game is a lot of fun. Crunchy & difficult combat. Love it.
