@sammyb for one moment I thought this article was about me. I started playing FIFA 19 as a thing to do with our lad just occasionally, but by the time FIFA 20 was out I got a bit hooked and played on a more on my own on a regular basis. I built a strongish FUT team and played Div 6 rivals, albeit not very good but I was ok with a bigger win than lose ratio. Was elated when 20 TOTY cards came out and I purchased a pack one Sunday at about 1 min past 6pm BST. Low and behold it was TOTY Mbappe 98 rated and the guy fitted my French team like a dream. He carried me through that season and although I didnt rise in the ranks I faired ok. On to FIFA 21 which I had high hopes with, but alas my dreams have been shattered. I find the game so bad. I am in Div 9 also now as I find the passing slow and I agree bizarre, and controls are so out of touch with what you want a player to do, so have played more squad battles, and very few rivals games, but find you are up against much the same teams all the time and the rewards are so horrific I just wonder why I'm bothering. To get the same players in packs over and over just sucks. I find if I do SBC's the same thing happens so I am of the opinion that the casual average player is never going to pull a Ronaldo or Mbappe TOTY card (correct me if I'm wrong) but the same old 78, 79 rated fodder that is happily discarded only to get back again via another reward pack. My other beef is the game play. even on World Class I can bet on just about every occasion I get to an opposition penalty area in SB's there will be around 8 or 9 defenders ready to block any shot thrown at them. Maybe EA will say this is where the skill element comes in but I have found it a little boring to be honest. I know there has been a lawsuit against EA re scripting of games which has been withdrawn (the lawsuit ) but I'm pretty sure some still happens in FIFA 21. Why can I therefore smash some 88/89 rated teams on World Class but Silver squads with what appear to be excellent goalkeepers are nigh impossible? Obviously I'm not that good a player but for me this has taken the fun out of playing completely. I am also absolutely fed up with the lack of support given by EA when you want to question them about anything game related. Have tried to message them on several occasions with absolutely no response whatsoever! Just my little rant before giving up the game completely and moving on to a game I find way more enjoyable. I did think about trying PES but am so unsure. EA hold pretty much all the aces with regard to teams and players so that would be a hard road to travel I'm sure. As a final word your article was, I think, very interesting reading. I find it mirrors quite a lot of my thoughts, feelings and indeed gameplay so I am glad to know there are others like me around.
