Re: The Last of Us 2 Is Sony's Third Best-Seller in US History

@1_W1NG3D_4NG3L It's no problem you just asked a question. Lots of people felt cheated by Ff7r, I just didn't because I didn't feel lied to. Here I did feel swindled because they promised me Joel and swept the rug out. I'd been okay with him dying if they didn't show that he'd be around, or had delayed his death for a larger part of the game, or least didn't try to force me to like his torturer/killer.

@1_W1NG3D_4NG3L The issue is that they showed Joel in scenes he wasn't actually in, and used his older model to make flashbacks seem like part of the story. They even had him say a line how he wouldn't let her go alone, only to give that line to an entirely different character. It definitely showed that Joel would at least be a larger part of the story outside Ellie's motivation for revenge, and even implied he'd go with her on at least part of her journey. If you were okay with that, cool, I wasn't because I liked Joel and wanted more of him. Plus then his death scene was lame and required everyone be entirely stupid to make work.

Abby was already unlikable from the start because she crudely tortures Joel to death in front of his daughter after he just saved her damn life. I didn't really care after that how many puppies she pet or trans kids she protected. She was introduced to me as a crazy psychopath who murdered my favorite character with zero remorse. The entire game is like that, where they need something dramatic or stupid to happen and then tell you how you're supposed to feel about it. Even then it was super confused on what its moral and purpose was. The game was fun to play but it's story felt like a mess of emotions trying to tell me how to feel when it itself didn't seem to know.

The story is meh, the gameplay is more of the same, the graphics are triple a quality, I don't get why people act like it's the best game ever made when lots of games have done it way better. Hell, Nier Automata is one of the best stories I've ever seen and it never had to falsely advertise itself to hide its twists or work that hard to make you feel emotions. It's fine to like something and see its faults (hell I'm a pokemon fan) but the people acting like it's sales are another reason critics aren't allowed to hate on this obviously perfect game is baffling. And kinda insulting to the devs who had to actually try to make a good game because they weren't Sony's favorite child.

@1_W1NG3D_4NG3L Druckmann flat out lied about tlou2 by inserting Joel in scenes he wasn't in, claiming it would be only about Ellie when half the game isn't (which is why there was a review embargo on half the game), and recording lines only for trailers. You can go Google it right now.

If you Google Ff7r false advertising its mostly people complaining the game wasn't what they expected, not examples of literal false advertising.

It's the difference between getting a pizza but being disappointed it wasnt as good as you were expecting, and being told it is a pepperoni pizza but getting pineapple. And then being told you're probably just a bigot for not enjoying the pizza you didn't order.

Sales don't mean the game is good. Pokemon sells bonkers and its games are garbage tier.

I'm expecting the MGS events to happen again. MGS was insanely popular, so mgs2 did amazingly well. Problem is they pulled the same crap they did with this game with false advertising, mediocre to laughable story telling, and unlikable characters. Fans hated it. Guess how well mgs3, now widely regarded by fans as the best game in the series, did on its initial release?

People blindly bought this game because the first one was great, it was advertised as another Ellie/Joel adventure (in the game he dies in the first two hours and half the game you're playing his murderer), they even lied about you having to kill the dogs (you literally have to kill a dog to progress). Hopefully this taught people not to preorder no matter how nice their bonuses are. People have now taught them they can get away with it so you know they'll continue doing it.

What we got was a crappy revenge flick that cops out in the end because they couldn't figure out how to reasonably keep Abby alive. So the moral is revenge is bad even if you don't actually get the revenge, unless you're Abby who got her revenge and nothing bad happens to her for it. Most of her crap is defending some trans kid from the big bad religious cult.

If you wanna like the game, go for it. I like a lot of terrible games. Let's just stop pretending it's on the same level of games that actually try to not lie to people, treat players with respect of their intelligence, and not spend more focus pushing a political message for LGBT brownie points.

Ff7r was a much better game with a lot of heart and love put into it to ensure the fans had an enjoyable experience. And if you think tlou2 had an amazing story you've never seen before, play games like rdr2, Spec Ops the Line, Bioshock, horizon zero dawn, persona 5, yakuza series, to name a few. I feel bad for you guys evidently not experiencing much of anything outside this garbage game.
