You go GIRL
Six years removed from its original release, Keita Takahashi's oddball girth giving sim Noby Noby Boy has been completed. For those unfamiliar with the loopy release, it tasked you with stretching your body so that you may give your length to GIRL, a cosmic entity on a trip around the solar system. Having visited Pluto, Mercury, Venus,...
Ignore the innuendo in the headline for a moment while we get down to business
It's been a while since we posted an update on Noby Noby Boy — mainly because players have spent the last couple of years stretching GIRL from Jupiter to Uranus. But finally, she's made it! GIRL's next destination is Neptune, which is set to be quite the journey for...
Keita Takahashi is responsible for some bold, bold games
Katamari Damacy and Noby Noby Boy are two examples. But after seeing the output at this year's E3, Takahashi reckons it might be time to take a break from the games industry. He told OPM that he's "not thinking about a future in video games," and added: At E3 I saw people putting...
There have been a number of stand-out Playstation characters who define this generation of Playstation content, but we've hand-picked the cream of the crop Those who have made the list represent exceptional character design, and go some way to defining the Playstation 3's line-up thus far. Nathan Drake (Uncharted): Perhaps the most...
Remember the over-arching co-operative nature of Namco Bandai's Noby Noby Boy
That's right, we're all increasing GIRL's length in hope of reaching new planets and subsequently unlocking new levels. Know then that GIRL has finally reached Jupiter after stretching to a length of 576,682,810 miles. Hurrah! Well done folks.
We kinda thought Noby Noby Boy was awesome
However, we can understand why people would pick it up and curse its very existence. It's bonkers and proud to be so. Still, creator Keita Takahashi remains unsatisfied with the product."Ultimately, with Noby Noby Boy, I wanted to break the barriers between toy and game," Takahashi told Develop...
Ahh Noby Noby Boy, the game that we just assumed everyone had downloaded to their PS3 because of the decent reviews and amount of coverage it gets
Sadly, seems like not everyone has been giving it to GIRL. Despite a potential 24 Million install base, Noby Noby Boy has gone on to sell just 100,000 copies. Perhaps that's a lot for a game that's about...
We knew our calculations weren't wrong
When we said it would take 5 years for Noby Noby Boy's GIRL to reach Mars, we did not "fail" (like one certain N4G poster claimed); Namco cheated. Apparently, Namco multiplied player's submitted lengths by 765, speeding up the process. Essentially, it cheated, though undeniably in a good way. Which...
Well, somewhere along the way our calculations messed up
We claimed it would be 5 years until GIRL from Noby Noby Boy reached Mars. We were wrong. She's there now. That's right - new Noby Noby Boy level for everyone; MARS! We had a tinker about and you'll never guess what's on Mars - an octopus.
The prospect of never seeing Mars in Noby Noby Boy is probably enough to cause even the most casual of players to the brink of tears
It's mighty sad. Thank goodness for "Lucky Week", a game mode spanning all this week where whatever you submit to GIRL will be multiplied. We should unite Noby Noby Boy players; Mars has to be reached.
Keita Takahashi, creator of Noby Noby Boy, had some interesting things to say with Eurogamer today
The paragraphs that stuck out as "repostable news" are reposted as news below. Speaking of the upcoming iPhone version of Noby Noby Boy, Takahashi says:"We used too much time and money to develop Noby Noby Boy, and there won't be any...
The chance of any of us actually seeing Mars in Noby Noby Boy is somewhat slim
New data, compiled and presented from the official Noby Noby Boy website concludes that there are only 1000 active players at the moment. At this rate, it's going to take those 1000 people a total of 2000 days (roughly 5 years) to reach the moon. 820 years are predicted...
Kotaku reader Tonks has sent in these super-cool home made kicks
The laces actually make up the body of our worm-like protagonist BOY. We think Tonks could be onto a winner with these, mind. Can you make/send us a pair please?
Blog</a> have teased the upcoming multiplayer mode coming to the excellent Noby Noby Boy. The short, disturbing teaser video above highlights four BOYS popping out of their colourful house. It's all about eerie, but totally awesome at the same time.
Noby Noby Boy might be getting offline multiplayer
According to the official website anyway. The teaser image, which shows BOY declaring "I want to play Multi-BOY" could mean anything, after all, we were at loss describing the game for our review. Guess we'll just have to wait and see.
If you've read our review of Noby Noby Boy, you might know something of the games quirky co-operative elements
Essentially, all PSN users are collaborating to stretch their individual BOY and collectively increase the length of GIRL so that she may reach other planets in the solar system. Five days after release users have reached the moon. Which...

Noby Noby Boy is a game few understand
Its creator isn't even entirely sure why it was made. It was also influenced by racing game DiRT. Ahem. According to developer, who actually claims to not like any games, he was inspired by "the opening camera work in a trailer for DiRT". Erm. Yeah. We'll have a review of Noby Noby Boy later on.
Quick update this
Upcoming Namco PSN release Noby Noby Boy is set to cost just £3.19 in the UK. The game comes from developer Keita Takahashi, the founder of the Beautiful Katamari series. He's not quite sure why he made it. We'll have a review soon.
We're not quite sure what to think of Noby Noby Boy yet
We know it's from the Katamari series' creator and for that we'll sit and wait to play it. Because these aren't the type of games you can assume to understand until you've sat down with them for a few hours (if ever at all). Having said that, the trophies sound brilliant. Hit the jump to check...
