News Sonic the Hedgehog Faces His Biggest Test Yet in Upcoming Godzilla Crossover Comic
Let them fight
If you enjoyed the recent DC x Sonic the Hedgehog comic book miniseries, then we suspect you may be all-in on this all-new crossover from IDW. In what’s looking like the Blue Blur’s biggest battle yet, he’ll face off against Godzilla in an all-new larger-than-life story, penned by Godzilla Rivals’ Nick Marino and drawn by...
News Sonic Goes for Gold with New Multi-Year Marketing Alliance with the Olympic Games
Gotta go fast
We tend to always associate SEGA with the Olympic Games, perhaps because of its various licensed tie-ins over the years – and, of course, the Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games series. But at Paris in 2024, the publisher stepped away from the event, leaving something of a hole. Now, the Japanese publisher has announced a new...
News Mega Man, NiGHTS to Join the Roster of Sonic Racing CrossWorlds on PS5, PS4
Rock(man) the CrossWorlds
Mega Man will embrace his Battle & Chase days when he joins the roster of Sonic Racing CrossWorlds as DLC in the future. Early copies of the upcoming SEGA racer – which we reviewed this week – include an insert for the Season Pass which references the previously announced guest appearance of Minecraft,
News 'Genesis Does What Nintendon't': Sonic Racing Takes Shots at Mario Kart World
They really went there
SEGA’s not messing around with its marketing for Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds. This new 30-second advertisement actually references a classic SEGA Genesis commercial, where the company – at its most abrasive – directly compared its own console to the Super Nintendo. This clip is a little less confrontational, praising...
Preview Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds Already Feels Like a Respectable Rival to Mario Kart World
Gotta go fast
Time has been kind to Sumo Digital’s iconic PS3 and PS Vita kart racer Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed. The multi-discipline arcade racer – which pulled liberally from SEGA’s back catalogue and found you piloting jet-skis and airplanes as well as cars – is often mentioned in the same breath as Mario Kart, the genre’s...
News 'Aw, Nah! This Ain't Happenin'!': SEGA on Potential PS5 Sonic Adventure Remasters
Smooth move, Knucklehead
SEGA has zero interest in remastering Dreamcast launch title Sonic Adventure and its sequel. While the 3D platformer received a cool critical reception at launch, this author is particularly fond of the game, largely because it kickstarted a generation of unforgettable action on one of the most legendary consoles of all...
News Unofficial PC Port Sparks Fresh Demand for Sonic Unleashed on PS5
Werehog untied
Sonic Unleashed was considered one of the ugly ducklings of the 3D Sonic the Hedgehog era, but as is so often the case, perception has turned around more recently. These days, the 2008 title – with its blend of traditional boost gameplay and brawler-style werehog segments – is considered something of an underrated outing, and a...
News PS5, PS4 Kart Racer Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds' Rumoured SEGA Stars Could Be DLC
To be this good takes AGES
Look, we really like the Sonic kart racing games, but we’re particularly big fans of Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed. Why? Well, because we loved the gameplay – which appears to be present in Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds – but also because we enjoyed the character roster. There’s hope, however, that SEGA’s...
News SEGA's Not Telling Us Much About Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds for PS5, PS4
New road awaits
A new Sonic Racing game is in development, but here’s the briefest of hints from The Game Awards. We basically get to see a few seconds of Shadow the Hedgehog’s fist, as he jumps into a black-and-red sports car. <related ids="175687"> Unfortunately, there’s no release date or no mention of gameplay mechanics or roster...
News Sonic X Shadow Generations Producer Wants to Remake the Worst Game in the Series for PS5
06, here we go again
Sonic has enjoyed plenty of highs, but he’s also experienced some extreme lows. Chief among those was the PS3 game Sonic the Hedgehog, known colloquially by fans as Sonic 06. It was a disaster, earning a Metacritic rating of 43. But Sonic X Shadow Generations producer Shun Nakamura, speaking at a fan event in Indonesia,...
News Sonic X Shadow Generations Looks Legit on PS5, PS4
Chaos
Let’s not beat around the bush: Shadow the Hedgehog was definitively uncool when he debuted on PS2 back in 2005. But time is a flat circle, and public opinion on the character has completely transformed in recent years. He’s now very well-liked, and will even be voiced by Keanu Reeves in Paramount’s upcoming Sonic the Hedgehog 3 movie...
News Sonic and Angry Birds Join Forces at Last in a Crossover No One Asked For
Five smartphone games see series collide
SEGA purchased Rovio a little while ago now, so it’s a surprise it’s taken this long for Sonic the Hedgehog and Angry Birds to meet. But as of right now, the two franchises have clashed in five smartphone games, through until 21st March. This includes Angry Birds 2,
News SEGA Wonders Whether Releasing Sonic Superstars Next to Mario Was a Good Idea
It wasn't
Sonic Superstars is a side-scrolling platformer available on multiple consoles, but it was always going to have a hard time in 2023 against a critically acclaimed Super Mario title. Speaking as part of its latest financial sales report, publisher SEGA hinted that launching the co-op outing against Nintendo’s latest – as well as...
News Sonic Frontiers Writer to Return for 'Truly Important' PS5, PS4 DLC
Speeding in later this year
Ian Flynn is a familiar name to fans in the Sonic the Hedgehog community, as he’s the scribe behind a number of stories, including comics, television shows, and games. Most recently he penned the plot to Sonic Frontiers, the most recent PS5 and PS4 game which enjoyed a pretty positive reception from players. And now...

Bulk up
Have you got the Platinum Trophy in Sonic Frontiers? You know exactly what we’re talking about, then! While debate rages about whether this release is actually good or not – we enjoyed it – there’s no question that upgrading Speed and Ring statistics with the Elder Koco proved a nightmare. This is because, in order to unlock both...

News Retro Compilation Sonic Origins Could Be Getting a Plus Update
Plus what?
Looks like SEGA will be building upon its already sturdy Sonic Origins compilation with a Plus upgrade similar to Sonic Mania. A classification submitted to the Korean ratings board references the release of Sonic Origins Plus, which will presumably include additional content – potentially Game Gear games, Ma
News Sonic Frontiers, Genshin Impact Fans at War Over Players' Voice Award
The Game Awards gets heated
Battle lines have been drawn and a video game war is being fought across social media: it's Sonic Frontiers vs. Genshin Impact. Both titles have been nominated for the Players' Voice Awards at The Game Awards tomorrow night, and the hardcore fanbase of each game has taken it upon itself to try and make their chosen game...
Poll What Review Score Would You Give Sonic Frontiers?
Unknown territory
Sonic Frontiers has been on the market for about a week or so now, and at least from our perspective, the reception has been reasonably positive. Even shockingly positive, some might argue, for what is the latest entry in a long line of critically panned 3D Sonic games. We really enjoyed the open world adventure, as per our Sonic...
Poll Did You Buy Sonic Frontiers?
Feeling blue
Sonic Frontiers is here, and it's actually...pretty good? Well, that's what our own Sonic Frontiers PS5 review says, and it's currently sitting at a respectable 73 on Metacritic — which, let's be honest, is fairly high for a modern Sonic title. You could argue that the Blue Blur is back, then, but have the review scores been enough to...
