If you want the newest content from the Dead Space universe, you won't be booting up the latest PS5 creation starring Isaac Clarke — you'll actually just be playing Battlefield 6.

The shooter has a new time-limited event that starts today and runs until 10th November 2026, all themed around Dead Space. This is a PvE version of the Battlefield mode Rush, and it features "environments, weapons, cosmetics and even gameplay mechanics adapted from" the survival horror series. Development was led by EA Motive, which developed the most recent PS5 remake of the first entry.

Up to 16 online players will "fight hordes of Marked Soldiers, wield the Pulse Rifle Battle Pick Up, and destroy the Marker before Convergence takes hold". Alongside the new mode, you could earn some permanent rewards like Isaac Clarke's suit, a weapon skin, and some Dead Space-themed emblems.

To be fair, the Battlefield 6 event sounds decent enough, especially since it's free. It stings a bit when there are no signs of life from the actual series, however.

With no new game in sight for the Dead Space series, the best it's gotten for some time now is appearances in other EA titles. For example, Isaac's suit was also a skin in Skate last year. Previous rumours have suggested the franchise is on ice, and the former series producer, Chuck Beaver, doesn't think the "numbers" are there to justify another game.

I'll continue to hope it comes back... one day.
