In what's become something of a tradition for PSVR2 rhythm darling Synth Riders, the looming arrival of Halloween means Kluge Interactive is giving the game an update with a free new song.

This year, the song in question is 'Lord & Master' by Apashe. A bassy cinematic track, this veers back a little closer to the original vibe that Synth Riders had back when it launched, which is a most welcome return.

While the last handful of DLC packs, like the massive Linkin Park one, have been excellent, they haven't really been, well, synthy.

While this Apashe song doesn't get us all the way across home plate in that respect, it is still in that same spirit. Plus, it's free! Who's going to turn down free content, especially when the gameplay loop remains one of the greatest things you can do with PSVR2.

In addition to the free tune, the home stage and one of the maps will have a festive theme that includes flying bats for the time of year.

Plus, two new visual effects – Neon Bloom and Flash – have been added to the game.

If you're reading this, then that means the update is available now! Is a free new song enough to entice you for the spooky season? Sound off in the comments.
