Embark Studios, the team behind popular shooters The Finals and ARC Raiders, have confirmed both games are being adapted for the screen.

As reported by Variety, the Nexon-owned studio is teaming up with production company Chernin Entertainment to bring the two titles into the realm of TV and film.

It's not made clear if both games are getting TV shows and movies, or if one is going telly and the other is going film, but whatever the case, you can look forward to seeing Embark's worlds brought to screens big and small.

Chernin Entertainment has been around since 2009, and has worked on many film and TV productions, including The Backrooms and the modern Planet of the Apes flicks, among others.

"Nexon's agreement with Chernin Entertainment is the next big step in growing 'ARC Raiders' and 'The Finals' into deeply integrated transmedia experiences that reward the passion of our global player community," says Embark CEO Patrick Söderlund.

"Throughout the process, the creative teams at Embark Studios will work closely with Chernin to ensure the creativity that defines both of these properties extends into all-new formats."

That's about all we know so far.

I think both could theoretically work as TV or movies, to be honest — the worlds of The Finals and ARC Raiders are interesting and I can easily imagine their spectacle making for some big, expensive set-pieces.

Free-to-play game The Finals frames the action within a virtual game show, in which players can cause mass chaos with fully destructible environments.

ARC Raiders is set on an Earth that's been overrun by otherworldly mechanical beings, forcing everyone underground — save for raiders who risk their lives to gather resources from the surface.
