Publisher Bandai Namco has announced some very positive news about the sales performance of Ace Combat 8: Wings of Theve.

The latest entry has set a new record for the long-running fighter jet action series; it's the fastest-ever to reach one million copies sold.

Yes, AC8 has surpassed the one million milestone within its first week on sale.

The news comes via several official posts on social media like the one above.

"We express our gratitude to all the ace pilots around the world and will continue to release updates to ensure you keep enjoying the game, so please continue to support us," the statement reads.

This early momentum is very encouraging for the franchise.

The previous game, Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown, is currently the best-selling game in the series by a significant margin, having sold 7.5 million units since its 2019 launch.

Bandai Namco did not publicly declare when that game reached one million, but we do know it took well over a year for it to sell 2 million.

In short, I think AC8 will overtake its predecessor without too much trouble.

By all accounts, it's another fantastic new game, and certainly the most polished and robust Ace Combat to date. As a big fan of the series, I can't recommend it enough, even if you've never played one before.
