Sony has released the PS Store's chart data for the month of August, and among the best sellers is PS5's superhero tag fighter, Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls.
On the PS5 chart for North America, the game landed in second place, coming in behind only Madden NFL 27. It's a pretty impressive placement for a new fighting game.
Unfortunately, Tokon didn't land nearly as strongly in Europe; it doesn't appear in the region's top 20 at all. Top of the chart for Europe is the Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 remaster, followed by Minecraft and Assassin's Creed: Black Flag Resynced.
Black Ops 2 comes third in the US chart.
Again, across the pond at least, it's a solid debut for Tokon. The Marvel fighter made quite a splash among fighting game enthusiasts, and while the PC version had some teething issues, the overall sentiment is very good.
It'll be interesting to see if it has much of a lifespan beyond launch. We know developer Arc System Works is planning at least four more characters and a new stage coming in DLC; hopefully we hear more about those soon.
Here's the full top 20 PS5 chart:

For all the negative nancys out there, for fighting game that isn't one of the big three this is impressive to even show up on one of the charts.
Sooo, it’s not the best selling?
Oh, “PS Store” game, i guess
It's a fantastic result for the US, really good. But a terrible result for Europe.
I wonder what happened there?
Hell let loose Vietnam in the biggest suprise
Who the hell still buys Minecraft and for what?
Considering its a anime style tag fighter that isn't part of the big 3 its done pretty well.
I bought it. I did my part. Now I need to actually play it lol
I bought a copy for my nephew's birthday and one for myself to play against him.
@get2sammyb
We all bought it on disc. Awesome game
Bought it and love it to death! Simple to pick up and have fun with, but very hard to master. Some of the guys and gals online are insanely good already.
I see Brand New Day has really helped the Spider-Man 2 sales numbers. Gotta love that synergy.
Waiting for a sale but it does look amazing
Its a fantastic brawler......but I get absolutely ANNIHILATED online, to the point where I just take a beating. But its a stunning fighter - some great single player modes too
Good to see Mortal Shell II doing well in both regions. My revered edition is in the shelf. I hope it did as well physically as it seems to be doing digitally.
It’s a great fighting game. I am a casual who mostly plays offline but I’ve played several dozen matches online. Online I mostly use Magik though I am working on learning Ghost Rider and the Hulk (trying to get good enough with them offline so I am comfortable fighting online against people who will of course exploit obvious weaknesses).
I'm thinking of buying this but I'm waiting for the price to drop.
@get2sammyb has Europe ever been a major player for fighting games? Outside of Mortal Kombat?
Spider-Man 2 continues to have strong sales especially with the new movie.
@cainhurst94 Tekken is pretty big in Europe I believe. I don't think Mortal Kombat is as big in Europe as the US.
Good news for Tokon in the US but i guess Europe aren't a fans of Marvel fighting games?
Also, Tokon only sold less than 3000 copies in the first week in Japan.

It's already a miracle if a fighting game that's not SF, Tekken or MK sells decently let alone chart at all. Hats off to the Tokon devs.
So do Europeans not like marvel lmao
War in the North charting! GGEU!!!
@Slayer25c More like Europeans only really buy the big three.
