City Builder LEGO Skylines Announced for PS5, and It Seems Like a Perfect Match 1

Publisher Paradox Interactive has just announced LEGO Skylines, and it's confirmed for PS5.

This is a city building sim from the development team currently also working on Cities: Skylines 2, which has yet to make its way to Sony's console.

If you ask me, a LEGO city builder seems like the perfect fit of genre and licence.

Going by the official description on the game's PS Store page, it sounds quite freeform — or at least, it'll give you lots of options to build out your city how you want to.

Cover the basics like electricity, food, and water. Then make it a place your citizens will love. Give them homes that one-up the neighbors. Good jobs. Great parks. Donut shops on every corner because that would be awesome. A frankly absurd amount of buildings, decorations, and other cool stuff (customization stuff) will make it easy to create a city that’s got your fingerprints all over it.

LEGO Skylines puts you in charge of, well, everything. Remember hospitals to keep everyone in one piece. Wheat for the donuts. Garbage collection, sewage, and all the other things that make a city click. How it all comes together is up to you. So stick your hard hat on and greenlight your weirdest ideas. Tweak one thing more times than you'd admit. And let yourself enjoy a little just-for-fun fun. It’s about the satisfaction of putting everything just where you want it. Which is, of course, exactly where it belongs.

There's no release date attached to this one yet — hopefully it's not too far off.

It will be day one for me on PS5 and on Steam, Cities Skylines (when it works) is one of my favorite games and I've tried to dabble with Lego games but never got far, but for Batman and a DC Villains one. Hopefully Paradox don't mess this one up.

@GirlVersusGame I'm old school, I played the original PS2 versions of Lego Star Wars 1&2 and had Lego Indiana Jones on PSP.

Hmm I'm interested, but I've always been more in to Tropico than city builders, I used to play a lot of Sim City 3000, SimTown, Theme Park World & Mall Tycoon as kid though.

@Neuromancer I'm new school I build Lego cats and bouquets of flowers but come October I'll be a building a Playstation One. Or I'll save it for December so I can share some of your December/Christmas. I'm not sure I'd like to wait until January. I'd hate to see Paradox get this one wrong. Cities Skylines 2 is the only game that I had to pre-order three times because of so many PSN/Amazon cancellations. Then I played it day one on PC and it was absolutely broken beyond belief. I don't know how they ever expected it to run on a PS5. It's an improvement on the first game when and if it works but I wouldn't expect to see it on a Sony machine until PS6. I liked Tropico, but preferred Evil Genius 2.

One of the best games of it's kind, really funny too. That base goes down another three levels, one floor is just all gold bars. I played it for hundreds of hours. The traps, torture methods, it's all brilliant.
