Guilty Gear Strive raised eyebrows over the weekend with an announcement that took players — including myself — completely by surprise.
Developer Arc System works confirmed that the fighter will be getting a second guest character, as part of the game's ongoing Season 5 offering.
You may recall that back in August of last year, Lucy from the Cyberpunk Edgerunners anime was added to Strive. She felt like a particularly cool inclusion, and so speculation is already rampant with regards to who this new guest could be.
There are no teasers to go on just yet, but the character's due out in winter 2026. It shouldn't be too long until we get a reveal.
It feels like guest characters are grabbing all the fighting game headlines at the minute. Tifa is going to be in Street Fighter 6, of course, and Tekken 8 blew minds by announcing Baki's Yujiro Hanma.
Will Guilty Gear go to similarly crazy lengths? I'm not totally sure. Given that fellow Arc System Works fighter BlazBlue: Central Fiction just got a new character a decade after its release, I'm tempted to think that there might be some kind of cross promotion going on here.
