Don't worry, developer Frogwares is avoiding the September 2026 release calendar by positioning The Sinking City 2 in August, on 18th August 2026 to be precise. The studio announced the release date today as part of the Future Games Show, and you can catch the accompanying trailer above.
That means you'll be playing the full game in just a few months, but if you want some hands on exprience, now, a one-hour demo has been made available on Steam. It's not coming to PS5, but download the PC version and you will get to play the opening 60 minutes of the detective title.

A selection of new screenshots has also been made available today:
Most of the development has taken place in Ukraine since January 2023, with a team of 90+ people working through severe hardships. "We went through entire winters where heat and power were regularly cut off throughout the day because our infrastructure was being intentionally targeted," head of publishing Sergiy Oganesyan explained, touching on the Russian invasion.
"We had days where someone would be part of the team, and then the next day we’d hear they had been called up to serve and needed to start handing over their work to the rest of us. You’d be in a meeting one minute discussing some trivial design question, and the next, half of us would be saying, 'Hold on, the air raid sirens just went off'. We’ve had people disappear for days because, overnight, their home or apartment building was hit directly or indirectly, damaging their homes."
That'll be The Sinking City 2 releasing for PS5 on 18th August 2026, a follow-up that takes the IP in a much more survival horror-focused direction. I reviewed the original PS4 game, awarding it a 7/10 at the time: "The Sinking City is a captivating detective undertaking that dives into the hauntings of H.P. Lovecraft with a compelling narrative that is sure to question your viewpoint as well as reality itself."

These guys haven't had it easy, with the publisher of the first game stealing their earnings before, too. I really enjoyed the first, so will be grabbing the second for sure.
