PSVR2 Just Got Its Killer App with Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024, Free Update Out Today

A killer app after Sony let it die.

Amazing that Microsoft produced a greater justification for the PSVR2 than Sony ever did.

It’s not just “dusting off” the headset.

(How horrible of you to assume it’s collecting dust!)

I wouldn’t care for regular FS2024, but with a VR option it moves from “not for me” to “maybe”.

What holds me back at “maybe” is the $70 USD price tag to “dust it off” and be able to play it.

Personally, I’ll wait for the review and player comments.

For now, I’ll file it under “interesting stuff to consider”.

But it is not winning over, say, Saros or 007.

Props to Microsoft for the VR update! Now all I need is a decent sale.

Like others on here waiting for a sale before picking this up - amazed it hasn't been discounted already as almost every other MS/XB game released so far on PS has been discounted within months (GoW was half price very quickly!)... but not this one?!

PSVR2 is my GT7 machine, I’ll take a look at this when it’s on sale. It seemed to have a LOT of issues on launch

Ironic that it's Microsoft that's providing Sony with a killer app for it's dead-in-the-water PSVR2. A shame, as it sounds like a great piece of kit that was well reviewed. The mind boggles at how Sony allowed it to wither and die. Anyway, this game sounds like the perfect use for it!

From everything I've seen and read, you need a very good Internet connection to play this in VR. The game is only an 8gb download on PS5. The game streams photogrammetry, scenery, and textures in real-time. A fast Internet is crucial to avoid scenery popping and to ensure a smooth, low-latency experience in VR.
It's strange as you can download 140gb on pc and that helps massively.
I do intend to get this, just waiting for a sale.

@dskatter For "dead" hardware, this isn't even the first flight game released for PSVR2 this year - that would be Aces of Thunder in February.

For "dead" hardware there are a lot of games dropping for PSVR2. Not hundreds, no, but dozens so far this year.

@get2sammyb to say GT7 in VR is very,very good is a complete disservice to the game as its just incredible and it was the reason for me buying a ps5 Pro and then the psvr2 in pretty much one hit. No man's sky is also an incredible experience using the psvr2. I will probably end up getting this too but not at the price it's currently sitting at. When it drops below £50 I'll bite.

@DrVenture69 get a steering wheel..you've got GT7 and a psvr2 so get a steering wheel as you are only half way to playing GT7 how it really needs to be played.

If anything makes me get a psvr2 it’s this.

We take a lot of gaming experiences for granted nowadays - in my opinion. MSFS is an objectively incredible accomplishment and possibly a peak into the future of gaming with it's streaming photogrammetry tech etc. Think Forza Horizon with a perfect replica of a major city for example. I definitely think it's worth getting a flight stick/yoke if you game at a desk, otherwise, a controller is still very immersive.
