It’s rare we pause to pre-order a game before we report on it, but regular readers will know Shenmue is an exception.
Announced last year at Gamescom, sequel Shenmue 3 is getting a re-release on PS5, alongside various other platforms.
This enhanced revisit smooths out the experience of the original game based on fan feedback. That means you’ll find features like a new camera that more closely mimics the Dreamcast games, as well as an optional stamina system and a revised economy for smoother progression.

Everything’s available as a toggle so you can preserve the experience as it was intended on the PS4 if you like. We’d recommend enabling some of these modernisations, though, because Shenmue 3 did have some low points (as much as we appreciated its intent).
Even more exciting news for fans like this author is the reveal of new Collector’s Editions.
In addition to the standard physical release – with some killer box art, we must admit – there’s a Special Edition and a Collector’s Edition.

Unusually, there’s no release date attached to this re-release just yet, but publisher ININ Games says all will be revealed in the coming weeks.
Pre-orders for the aforementioned physical editions are open now, so don’t delay if you want to get this.
