Sony's latest push into mobile territory is MLB The Show Mobile, just announced and soft launched in the Philippines.
Developed in-house at San Diego Studio — developer of the main MLB The Show series — you can get a sense of the free-to-play game in the below trailer:
The official website describes MLB The Show Mobile as "a new standalone experience built from the ground up to deliver realistic baseball gameplay on mobile devices".
Built for both iOS and Android, the game is currently only available in the Philippines, but it'll come to more territories in future.
The game will feature current and legacy players, as well as all real stadiums.
You'll be able to bat, pitch, and field using touch controls, and you'll gradually build your dream team by collecting player cards. You can then earn XP and upgrade your players to make them more valuable.
For Sony's mobile plans, this seems like a no-brainer — bringing one of its popular franchises to a whole new audience.
Hopefully the global rollout won't be too far away so everyone can get to grips with this new take on MLB The Show.

This will be pretty popular I imagine. It’s cool to see PlayStation finally properly embracing mobile.
This is a decent idea but I don’t think SDS had to be involved. The main game still feels last-gen, I’d rather see the resources going towards a proper bump for the next title.
@nessisonett What's SDS sorry. Thanks
@TechaNinja San Diego Studio. They make the MLB games.
@nessisonett They Should open up a 2nd studio that deals with side projects like this so the main studio can focus on the main series.
"just announced and soft launched in the Philippines"
I didn't know baseball is popular in Philippines. The only Asia country that i know who's crazy for baseball is Japan. So this is an odd choice to picked Philippines to soft launch a mobile baseball game...
@PuppetMaster yeah I was thinking the same thing
@PuppetMaster I’m surprised about this News what we want is a Official Sony PlayStation Network Philippines but I don’t mind Sony launched it here first also i don’t remember Baseball is a popular sport in my Country popular sports in the Philippines are Boxing, Basketball ,Volleyball,Billiards, weightlifting and last year Artistic Gymnastics became popular after one of our National Athlete won 2 Olympic Gold Medal in France.
I didn’t know the Phillipines had a big MLB fan base
@MisterXpoSay I forgot Philippines doesn't have official PSN just like Vietnam and Brunei. I hope you guys got one soon since other SEA countries like Singapore, Indonesia, Thailand, Malaysia, Myanmar, and even Laos got PSN.
They usually launch these games to very small markets so they can test them.
I imagine they're targeting a full worldwide release alongside the new game next year.
