A spike of users as we creep into Christmas has temporarily taken Fortnite offline, with Epic’s Tim Sweeney stating “the servers are melting down, sorry fam”.
To be fair, the Fortnite Status account has been quick to respond to the issues, and while it warns players not having problems may be booted, it’s all part of its efforts to “bring [the game] back online and restore matchmaking to normal”.
Elsewhere, PSN has also succumb to problems, although its snags are far less widespread right now and you should be able to connect without too many issues.
We’ll continue to monitor this situation throughout the day, but hopefully things start to settle – despite the inevitable influx of traffic incoming as the west wakes up on Christmas Day.
