There has been an awful lot of rumour and speculation about the potential return of The Simpsons: Hit & Run, a firm fan favourite game from 2003.
Well, it seems like we might have finally gotten some sort of confirmation, and it comes straight from the creator of The Simpsons, Matt Groening.
In a D23 panel, which you can watch above, a fan asks whether we might get a sequel to The Simpsons: Hit & Run.
Showrunner Matt Selman says "That would certainly be a treat," before Groening provides his own response.
"I think the original game is coming back in some form."
"Or... not," replies Selman, implying that Groening may have divulged information he wasn't meant to. Whoops!
For me this is pretty much as good as a confirmation. It might not be formally announced for a while yet, but it sounds like a remaster or remake of The Simpsons: Hit & Run really is happening.
Widely regarded as the best Simpsons game, it's an action platformer set across several open environments, allowing you to freely explore Springfield. You're able to play as Homer, Bart, Lisa, and more characters, drive a wide variety of vehicles, and follow a story written by the show's writers.
It was developed by Radical Entertainment, which actually resurfaced as New Radical Games recently, fanning the flames of a potential Hit & Run revival.
More recently, VGC's Jordan Middler suggested Activision is working on bringing back a licensed game that people are "absolutely desperate for", and it's believed he's referring to Hit & Run.
With Groening's comment, it feels fairly assured now.
