For some, Fez remains one of the best puzzle platformers in living memory, so it should be little surprise to see a handful of games taking inspiration from its world-twisting ways.
One upcoming example is Cassette Boy, which was announced a while ago but now finally has a release date on PS5 and PS4. It comes out on 15th January 2026:
On top of the release date, a free playable demo is now available to play on PS5 and PS4, letting you take it for a spin this side of the holidays.
In Cassette Boy, you play in a pixelated, top-down view, exploring a world that's inspired by quantum physics.

It's a literal interpretation of the notion that the things you can't see no longer exist. To that end, you can rotate the game world to view it from a different perspective, and anything that's blocked by this different view is no longer there.
You can use this mechanic to get past barriers, circumvent enemies, and solve puzzles. It's best illustrated in motion, so we strongly recommend you watch the trailer at least.
It looks like a fascinating little game, and we're definitely curious to give it a shot. Will you be playing Cassette Boy? Tell us in the comments section below.
