Gigasword has kinda passed us by, but it looks pretty interesting.

From publisher Akupara Games and developer Studio Hybrid, this is a 2D action game with a Metroidvania structure, and it looks like its namesake is the key to everything — literally, at times.

With nice pixel art and chiptune music that puts us in mind of games like Shovel Knight, Gigasword is out today on both PS5 and PS4.

What's more, there's also a free demo available, providing you with a decent look at how the game operates.

Essentially, you wield a massive sword, and you'll use it not only to take down enemies, but to solve puzzles and traverse the environment.

You can drop and pick up the sword at any time; doing so is necessary to move forward, as you can jump much higher when you aren't weighed down by the huge weapon.

The sword can also be upgraded over time, of course, and this being a Metroidvania, you'll be able to go back to previous areas once you're better equipped to explore further.

It seems pretty neat to us, and having played a little of the demo, its twist on the gameplay is a good one.

We thought it was worth highlighting, anyway, but what are your thoughts on Gigasword? Tell us in the comments section below.
