Final Fantasy 7 Remake Switch 2 Xbox PS5

Update []: So, are the "streamlined progression features" touted for the Switch 2 and Xbox versions of Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade also coming to PS5 and PC?

The answer is yes, according to Square Enix. The publisher very kindly got back to us on the matter, stating that the options — which are basically cheats, allowing for infinite health and more — will be added via an update on PS5 and PC.

However, Square Enix didn't reveal any kind of timeline for said update. Remake Intergrade is set for a January 2026 release on Switch 2 and Xbox, so we would assume that the patch will drop around the same time.

More specifically, the publisher told us:

"As we now have a clear path to extend the enhanced lighting features from the PC version to the PS5 version, we plan to implement this update at an appropriate time."

In other words, it sounds like a wider PS5 update is planned, and the progression features will be a part of that when it eventually arrives.

Original Story: Square Enix calls them "streamlined progression features", but back in the day, we just called them cheats.

That's what Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade is getting when it launches on Nintendo Switch 2 and Xbox Series X|S in January of next year.

These new features include toggles for:

  • Infinite HP and MP
  • Deal 9,999 damage on all of your attacks
  • Infinite items

Needless to say, enabling these streamlined options will trivialise the game's combat system. Their implementation has already caused a bit controversy amongst fans, with some arguing that they're a step too far in removing all challenge from what is a key part of the experience.

But look, we're not going to tell people how they should enjoy the games that they buy with their own hard-earned cash. If you're playing Remake Intergrade purely for the story and spectacle, then we imagine that these features might come in handy.

Interestingly, though, there's been no mention of these options making their way to the PS5 version of the game. It could be that PlayStation users will be left with a technically inferior edition of the highly rated RPG.

We've reached out to Square Enix for clarification on the matter, and we'll update this article if we get a response.
