Roblox could be the place you play the next Like a Dragon spin-off, if a new initiative SEGA is involved in takes off. The problematic kids' game platform has revealed a new License Manager tool that'll let companies accept fan submissions to make official Roblox games based on their IP, and SEGA is one of the firms on board.
From anyone who has made an unofficial Like a Dragon game in Roblox that's averaging more than 1,000 active daily users, SEGA will consider their submission to make an official Roblox experience and split the revenue equally between the two parties. SEGA even goes one step further by asking creators to make their Roblox games "true to the series' lore", reports Game File.
While the core entries will obviously still be handled by SEGA, this initiative opens the door for creators to create smaller spin-off titles with the publisher's backing. What about a Dress to Impress with Majima as the lead, or Grow a Garden for Kiryu?
Anything made in Roblox would tie into the ongoing issues surrounding developer creations in the game, which were documented by People Make Games a few years ago.

In the immortal words of Steve Rogers "No...I don't think I will."
The dev team behind Roblox are scum, so I won't be getting that game if that's the case.
No no! Bad Sega! Bad!
@DonkeyFantasy That's actually a very good comparison! I suppose the only thing BGS doesn't do is incentivise gambling on a children's game.
I'm not into Roblox because I'm not a child.
But basically this is just advertising directly to younger gamers, and you have to advertise where the gamers are.
Complaining about Roblox is nice and all. The better answer is to make a superior alternative.
With Half-Life 2 came Steam, and people were upset. Why such an online store with 30% fee, why not buying directly from the publisher? Nowadays, Steam is not only totally accepted but somewhat appreciated by a huge number of PC gamers as their single point of PC gaming.
These were the platforms we are totally fine with these days. The next step are the metaverses, Fortnite and Roblox (and none from Meta).
If you don’t like Fortnite and Roblox as metaverses for your favourite franchises, support alternatives or create them by your own. There market is big enough for a GOG metaverse!
I don't really know what robox is but I know I hate this.
This is great news for me because I've been holding off from the Yakuza series until it arrives in Roblox.
@Max_the_German There is another alternative, which is not using or supporting any metaverse at all. I know which option I'm choosing.
"Complaining about Roblox is nice and all. The better answer is to make a superior alternative"..... sure, have you got a spare £56 Billion so I can compete?
@Max_the_German No thanks. That’s basically a dystopian take on the future of gaming to me. If we let Fortnite and Roblox become the future of gaming, I’ll stay in the past. I refuse to give my money to such platforms.
@somnambulance Same. Luckily there are so many games I would be set for life regardless.
what the hell?
As someone who work with teens these comments are all painfully unaware of where and what kids play. Believe it or not Fortnite, Roblox, and games like Genshin Impact or other F2P games eat up my students time when we talk about gaming. I occasionally get the kid who loves RPGs, or something beyond sports and F2P, but the Gen Z audience is different.
@ErrantRob Yeah, this place is full of dinosaurs that don't realize they're in the overwhelming minority now. Kids today don't really care about single player games. They only want social experiences and free games. It doesn't make sense to them or their parents to pay $70 for a new single player game when they can play Roblox or Fortnite for free.
I'll pass, thanks.
I've heard of Majima Everywhere, but this is ridiculous!
