A lot of racers are roughly the same these days, so it's always refreshing to see one that's doing something different.
Meteora is a combat racing game in which you pilot a meteor through the cosmos.
Previously announced as part of Sony's India Hero Project lineup, this combination of arcade-like action and racing elements looks totally unique.
In each level, you're tasked with racing through space to the exit, but as the PS Blog post reveals, there are plenty of obstacles in the way:
You control a Meteor blazing through the vast cosmos, navigating treacherous celestial terrain to ensure your survival. Precision and quick reflexes are your greatest allies as you steer past dynamic hazards and colossal astral obstacles on the journey to each level’s end. Every stage presents a unique sub-objective that must be conquered to unlock the exit portal.

The game is a fast-paced test of skill that has you navigating through "explosive asteroid belts, electrically charged debris, and icy barriers that threaten to freeze your momentum".
You'll gather crystals and stardust to increase your health and speed, but you'll still need to contend with rival meteors.
Fortunately, you're able to take them down, with some offering extra benefits for doing so, such as giving you resources or restoring your fuel.
It all sounds quite chaotic, and that'll go doubly so if you're playing in PSVR2; the game can be fully played in Sony's headset too, if you fancy.
It sounds like Meteora is taking full advantage of all PS5 and PSVR2's bells and whistles, including haptic feedback, 3D audio, and motion controls.
Meteora is due out in 2026, and it sounds like a promising, energetic arcade title to look forward to. Are you interested in this one? Race down to the comets section (sorry) below.
