There are fewer MOBAs, or Multiplayer Online Battle Arenas, on consoles these days. But it’s still an extremely popular genre, with League of Legends undoubtedly one of the biggest titles on the entire planet.
Bandai Namco believes it can vacuum up a few players with its new free-to-play Dragon Ball: Gekishin Squadra on PS5 and PS4, then. Perhaps the closest analogue for this take on the genre is the brilliant Pokémon Unite, which you can play on mobile and Nintendo Switch.
Indeed, the publisher is describing this as a more accessible twist on the genre.

“Enter the world of Dragon Ball by bringing your favourite characters’ earth-shaking strength to the battlefield, and join up with your friends and allies to defeat your opponents and dominate the objectives,” the blurb reads.
Characters span a variety of archetypes, from Damage dealers to Tanks and more Technical support units. You’ll also be able to personalise your roster with unlockable skins, finishers, and entrance animations.
An open network test is scheduled to get underway across all platforms from 11PM PDT on 11th June through 11PM PDT on 15th June, so you’ll have an opportunity to give this a try for yourself starting next week.
