There’s a lot going on with Sea of Remnants, a new pirate game from NetEase and Joker Studio.
It’s a free-to-play game, with both single player and online components. It’s also a turn-based RPG with survival mechanics, open world exploration, crew management, and more. Like we said, there’s a lot going on!
The game’s been in development for six years, and sees you assume the role of an amnesiac sailor who “sets off on a voyage alongside a mysterious girl”. As you do!
You’ll upgrade your ship and meet various different personalities in a uniquely styled world with vivid colours and puppet-like characters.
There’s mention of a pirate city hub, which will grow and evolve over time, reacting to your decisions and progress.

To be honest, we’re not sure we have a full grasp on this one yet – it sounds super ambitious – but there’s clearly the bones of something wonderfully creative here.

Looks more intriguing than Sea of Thieves' first reveal for sure.
I lost count on how many genres were in the game 😅, wasn't aware it's F2P, so will keep an eye on it.
I thought this game looked really interesting but hearing that it's going to be F2P has immediately killed my interest.
Turn-based? Nevermind then.
Has a Bioshock/sinking city feel to it with the character art. Looks interesting, need another turn-based game besides Honkai Star Rail. Now what will the gatcha part be?
F2P im out. Originally I was interested, but the more that was revealed the less and less I was.
Looks like it has potential but now you say f2p I feel it'll have loads of gross monetization that I can't stand
Looked interesting but can’t be doing with FTP, shame. Would have liked to see how all those elements came together in the loop, but now there’s very likely going to be timers and currencies and inflated grinds…meh.
I was super interested in this..... Now I know it's f2p I'll take a wide berth
Shame its a f2p. I will still give it a try for some undetermined time because it looks gorgeous, hopefully it plays good as well.
