EA has announced it will fully unveil the next Battlefield game this summer, and then the full game will be out on PS5 by March 2026. The new FPS is currently in testing via a Battlefield Labs application.
The news was confirmed in the publisher's latest financial earnings call, where CEO Andrew Wilson called the release a "pivotal step in delivering on our next generation of blockbuster entertainment". It was revealed that the upcoming free-to-play Skate game will also launch in the same timeframe.
In tandem with the release window, EA DICE posted an extensive update on Battlefield Labs to Twitter. The developer said it's now "validated a solid foundation for a core Battlefield experience" and will increase the scale of its testing. Throughout this month, more players across Europe, USA, and Asia will be invited to play.
It said: "Alongside testing new content, we'll continue to iterate on our initial focus areas, such as balancing the different weapon archetypes and damage values, as well as movement and combat pacing mechanics."
It's been a number of years since the company's EA Play Live event was held, so it's possible the reveal will take place in a standalone livestream rather than as part of a wider showcase. Are you interested in a new entry after Battlefield 2042? Let us know in the comments below.

Please just be good. Please be good.
Battlefield was probably the only online shooter where teamwork felt genuinely good and roles mattered, and the physics were also quite decent, or something about it was just more weighty and meaningful than CoD somehow 🤷‍♂️
They better try harder the series needs a better return even if 2042 did come around well later.
To me I haven't cared for a Battlefield game in a while. I pick up old shooters PS3/360 era because every single one is mechanically memorable even if the stories, settings, characters and more may not be. To me this era is filled with MP garbage generic not much effort put in ones and the big ones just do the bare minimum of offering settings and sub par mechanics done to death that aren't exciting in the slightest and the story modes are there or not. Very few story based shooters come out anymore. Let alone any of them being that compelling. Besides probably decent multiplayer but not as good DLCs or maps or even ideas in them.
Maps in many shooters look static and dull, they may visually look good but functionally are dull and forgettable, where is a few things to navigate areas for such themes of docks or tunnels or whichever of cities, fields, and other such, what vehicles, what other USEFUL things on maps to use for combat or navigating in a fun way. Make them dynamic and fun for players to navigate or be obstacles briefly.
BF 2 Modern Combat's swap feature was great, not seen since, challenges or other such things to add to the games it's just SP/MP and wanting that MP money.
Destruction in other games and returning (sure, whatever effect it has visually, but probably barely alters maps, or is dynamic enough to be different layouts or randomised layouts of rumble or anything because that is too much work. I've wanted dynamic maps for kart racers ever since some had final lap track changes or other such things. But destruction for a shooter and randomised layouts if people hit buildings would be interesting, or a level that is more creative but the game has to be SO realistic I doubt it.
I'd take a computer simulated type level.
Or a one with wooden blocks like a Jenga or kids room with towers. But whatever to be creative with it. XD But this is a serious shooter so I doubt it. Or dock containers even. Make it creative even if serious.
Too creative never happens in this day and age and audiences are to blame as much as Pubs/Devs/Execs/uncreative people in this industry. I mean movesets suck in games as it is I find them boring. But that's just me I hate many characters moves or weight/physics, but whatever. I hate realism I enjoy creativity no matter how fictional or realistic with some gamey flexibility to it.
Is fair but honestly they just need more exciting features because to me the setting is clear and Hardline's cops were ok of something but yeah the series needs a good mix of mechanics (won't happen in the generic shooter space these days anyway) and the setting whether older or modern is fine by me just make it interesting.
What are the odds it will be broken and full of bugs.
Please see the return of the story campaign… I don’t care if the story, characters… or whatever is trash. The campaign always had some interesting set pieces, and that all they need to deliver for a campaign.
