With the highly anticipated Forza Horizon 5 right around the hairpin bend, Test Drive Unlimited: Solar Crown is about to experience some pretty stiff competition on the PS5.
But after a meek launch plagued with problems, Nacon is not pulling the plug on the racer. A revised roadmap will see two new game modes added in Season 3 on 19th March: navigation races and convoy missions.
The former actually looks quite cool: you’ll set a waypoint to a point of interest you want to travel to, and then will be able to set the fastest time on your way to it.

Perhaps indicative of the racer’s problems at launch, though, dev KT Racing is also adding two highly anticipated features: solo play and the ability to select the CPU’s difficulty. Yeah. There’ll also be customisable license plates.
In addition to all of the above, the studio is also rolling out three new cars, including the DeLorean DMC-12.
Nice updates, then, but it’s going to face an uphill battle for attention once Forza Horizon 5 makes its PS5 debut next month.

I wish I could like this game. The always online setup of this game has destroyed any chance of credibility. Having to wait in a lobby countdown to a single player event full of ai opponents is ridiculous. Unless they rethink the philosophy of this title it is doomed to fail. Waiting in lobby’s when not playing against other people is tedious at best and downright unacceptable at worst. Don’t buy this if you like a good time, wait for forza horizon instead.
My biggest regret with this game is that I played more than 2 hours and couldn't refund it.
i agree with gomersoul the countdown when wanting to play single player is game breaker its a boring driver game in general
There was rumors that the publisher was planning on selling the dev and this the game was basically getting abandoned. It's been slaughtered by reviewer's and unfortunately it's not a Test Drive game to me. TDU 1 on Xbox 360 was the best game they ever did when it was a decent Atari
Why play this when The Crew Motorspot exists and Forza Horizon 5 is out next month?
Yep, I regretted this one pretty much immediately. What a joke of a racing game. Happily going to switch to Forza the instant it launches
@gomersoul Did you not read the article? They're adding solo play lol. It also has pausing and quick restart.
When FH5 was announced for the PS5, it didn't even occur to me that it would be competing with this game. GT and NFS sure, but I'd completely forgotten this existed.
@YoureTooSlowBro Thanks I missed that! It’s a shame developers don’t see these issues before launch, leaves a sour taste. If they have to change the fundamental design of the game then maybe it’s too little too late.
@gomersoul Yeah, I agree. To be fair to them though I think an offline has always been on the roadmap. They just had bigger issues to fix first to make the game actually fun lol. Hopefully this convinces more people to play it because the driving actually feels good.
@YoureTooSlowBro
So what does this mean? I can play the entire game solo (career?)? But i still have to be connected online to even be able to play the game? Correct?
@DDDD Sadly, yes. You are correct. You still have to be connected to their servers.
