Fallout 4 PS5

As promised by Bethesda at the end of last week, the developer has today released a new PS5 patch for Fallout 4 that works to improve its suite of graphical options alongside "further fixes and improvements". The update is available to download now on PS5, weighing in at a tiny 189.4MB. You'll have it downloaded and installed in seconds.

Bethesda hasn't shared any official patch notes just yet for version 1.000.002, but early reports from players indicate the resolution and frame rate settings have been separated from one another, allowing you to adjust them independently on the title screen. You should now be able to choose between the three target frame rates (30fps, 40fps for select TVs, and 60fps) as well as either a native 4K resolution or a dynamic one. The update is also expected to fix visual bugs present in the PS5 version.

Update: As per Bethesda, here are the patch notes for PS5 update 1.10.985:

Xbox Series S|X and PlayStation 5 Display Settings

Thanks to your feedback, we’ve been able to implement the ability to control your graphic fidelity and performance. We highly recommend you run with the default settings but now you can change your options to better fit your playstyle and display.

Frame Rate Target

Frame Rate Target allows you to choose between 30, 40, and 60 (default). It is important to note that to select 40, your display must be able to support 120hz.

Visual and Performance Prioritization

You can now choose between Visuals and Performance (default) while trying to maintain frame rate target. If you choose Frame Rate Target of 60, we recommend selecting Performance. Both modes may adjust internal resolution dynamically when scenes or action get heavier. Please note both modes can only be changed from the main menu.
