Rise of the Ronin Sales

Despite Dragon's Dogma 2 boasting marginally better launch sales than Rise of the Ronin (with both titles releasing on the same day), it's Team Ninja's PS5 exclusive that's managed to stand stronger in the latest Japanese charts. Indeed, Ronin has actually done quite well for itself, shifting an additional 20,000 retail copies over the last week, bringing its total to a fairly respectable 85,000 units. It was topped only by Princess Peach: Showtime!.

Dragon's Dogma 2, meanwhile, has suffered a drop from second down to fifth, selling just 9,000 copies. This isn't an uncommon occurrence when it comes to PlayStation software, but we've got to imagine that Capcom would have wanted a better overall result. Fortunately, the open world RPG seems to have sold incredibly well on a worldwide scale — so it's probably not a huge deal.

Elsewhere, the PS5 continues to tick along towards the 6 million mark. The current-gen console has performed well so far, particularly when compared to the PS4, which has been a relatively slow seller in Japan throughout its lifetime.
