LEGO Harry Potter

Reports claiming a new LEGO Harry Potter game is in development have been doing the rounds for a while now, and this month's Gamescom event in Germany may be the place for it to become official. According to VGC, a teaser was uploaded to the South African Instagram account for Warner Bros, but was then quickly pulled. The image apparently sported a LEGO figurine of Harry Potter and then the date "8.25.23", which falls in line with Gamescom.

According to reporting, this new LEGO Harry Potter game will be in the style of LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga, in that you'll have much more freedom to explore the wider universe and follow the story of Harry Potter's seven years at Hogwarts. Of course, TT Games also put out LEGO Harry Potter: Years 1-4 and then Years 5-7 on PS3 before porting them to PS4 as the LEGO Harry Potter Collection. This new game is set to feature different gameplay to those entries.

The official announcement looks set for 25th August 2023, which would continue a bumper year for the Harry Potter IP. Wizard and witch simulator Hogwarts Legacy has sold over 15 million copies since its launch in February, and a brand new Quidditch game called Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions was revealed. LEGO developer TT Games also appears to have its own take on football planned, with age ratings for a LEGO 2K Goooal! posted online.
