Call of Duty: Next Event Push Square

Activision has announced it'll be hosting a special, one-off Call of Duty event next month that will reveal the "immediate future" of the series. Suitably named Call of Duty: Next, it's taking place on 15th September 2022, and this year's games — Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2 — will be the focus. The mobile version of Warzone will also be there.

In an official Call of Duty blog post, the show is described as an "era-defining franchise event". Modern Warfare 2 will be the main event, with a multiplayer reveal taking place during the show. There shall be live gameplay, innovations will be detailed, and a "multitude of your favourite streamers" will even be there to show the game off. Interestingly, one final bullet point shares there'll be information and surprises for "[[REDACTED]]".

This could be the rumoured DMZ mode part of Modern Warfare 2, which has recently leaked. Similar to popular PC title Escape from Tarkov, you may remember Battlefield 2042 tried a similar thing with Hazard Zone — in disastrous fashion of course. EA DICE has ditched all support for the mode now.

It sounds like there will be opportunities to earn Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 beta codes before and during the event, which is set to begin on 16th September 2022 for PS5, PS4 players. Will you be taking the latest FPS for a test run? Let us know in the comments below.
