Bungie has announced its next big Destiny 2 expansion, named Lightfall, will release for PS5 and PS4 on 28th February 2023. The DLC is available to pre-order now on the PS Store for £39.99/$49.99, or you can double the price and get the Annual Pass included in your purchase. Lightfall is said to be one of the last chapters in this era of Destiny 2 — another expansion is planned after it — as you can catch a glimpse of what's waiting for Guardians in the trailer above.

The story synopsis is as follows: "In a Neptunian city under siege, find strength in your fellow Guardians as the end to all things approaches — the Witness is here." A new campaign will take you to the all-new destination of Neptune, where you'll "meet the Cloud Striders, join the fight against the Shadow Legion, and prevent devastation in the technologically advanced secret city of Neomuna".

Additionally, the Titan, Warlock, and Hunter classes will all be treated to a new subclass called Strand. This essentially gives you a grappling hook, which is pretty cool. Other features coming to Destiny 2 in the future includes an in-game Fireteam Finder so you don't need to go to external websites to arrange a party.

A loadout switcher is also coming, and Bungie has made the commitment to not sunset anymore expansions. "It was always tough having to say goodbye to previous campaigns when they moved into the Destiny Content Vault. Even if you didn’t play them often yourselves, it made it more difficult to get your friends caught up on what happened with the major yearly beats in Destiny 2."
