April 2022's PS Plus games have been confirmed — and look, we know that it's a little more difficult to get excited for regular old PS Plus when Sony's just announced an overhaul of the service, but a whole lot of people still care about their monthly games. So let's take a look, shall we?

As was leaked earlier in the week (what? No way!), these are the PS Plus games for April 2022:

Yeah, the reception to that aforementioned leak wasn't great, but from our perspective, it's worth pointing out that Slay the Spire and SpongeBob are both pretty good games in their own right. Meanwhile, Hood is one of those competitive-co-op hybrids that never really took off, despite some decent reviews. Hopefully it gets a new lease on life thanks to PS Plus.

In our SpongeBob Squarepants PS4 review, we dished out a sturdy 7/10: "SpongeBob Rehydrated is a vibrant remake of a much loved PS2 platformer. It's a little rough around the edges, but it's a solid effort that brings back a type of game that's all too rare on modern machines. The simple fun of collecting, bashing enemies, and exploring a beloved location is very much here, and fans young and old will get a kick out of this underwater excursion." And chances are, you may be able to download the game early.

We were similarly positive in our Hood: Outlaws & Legends PS5 review, which also got a 7/10: "Hood: Outlaws & Legends should be applauded for doing something different. In a just world, this release would steal players from larger brands and establish itself as a unique online alternative – but right now, its community is small. Assuming you can find a match, the stealth-based competitive gameplay is refreshing, and while it’s not without its drawbacks, it can be seriously satisfying when you work as a team to achieve your objectives unnoticed. There’s huge potential here, Sumo Newcastle just needs to find a way to keep its playerbase engaged."

All three games will be available to download from Tuesday 5th April.

What's the verdict then? Feel free to wait for PS Plus Premium in the comments section below.
