Wow, wow, wow! This has got to be one of the greatest steelbooks ever made, right? Sony has, as promised, announced the MLB The Show 22 Collector’s Edition, and we reckon even non-baseball fans will be able to appreciate this one. Inspired by cover star Shohei Ohtani’s love of manga and anime, San Diego Studio has partnered with legendary Japanese artist Takashi Okazaki to create arguably one of the best boxes in sports game history.

Feast your eyes on this absolute masterpiece:

MLB The Show 22 PS5 PlayStation 5 1

There are a couple of options available. The physical MVP Edition comes with the aforementioned steelbook, as well as a PS4 disc and PS5 download voucher. You’ll also get a ton of in-game goodies, including 1 Diamond Choice Pack, 2 Gold Choice Packs, 1 Cover Athlete Bat Skin, 1 Cover Athlete Profile Banner, 1 Ballplayer Pack, and 10,000 Stubs. It’ll cost $84.99.

Meanwhile the Digital Deluxe Edition comes with both PS5 and PS4 versions, 1 Diamond Choice Pack, 1 Cover Athlete Diamond Choice Pack, 5 Gold Choice Packs, 20 The Show Packs, 1 Cover Athlete Bat Skin, 1 Cover Athlete Profile Banner, 1 Ballplayer Pack, and 10,000 Stubs. It’ll cost $99.99. Both of the aforementioned special editions will be available four days early, from 1st April, 2022. And no, that’s not an April fool!

As was the case last year, for every Collector’s Edition sold through 31st December, 2022, Sony will donate $1 to the Jackie Robinson Foundation. So, good value, a great cover, and a wonderful cause – there’s not much to dislike here, is there?
