It's Been One Year Since the Release of Cyberpunk 2077

Honestly on ps5 back combat it was a good game. They should have delayed and ditched last gen the narrative would be different

According to the games list in my profile I've put a total of 605 hours played into Cyberpunk 2077. Looking forward to adding more when the PS5 version releases.

Cyberpunk has been sitting on my shelf for a year now. Waiting for the upgrade.

Out if curiosity if you were to review it after all the patches what would you give it now?

I’m waiting for the native PS5 port.

I’ve seen the PC version running in real time on a 2070 Super (which the PS5 is roughly equivalent to) and it looks like a totally different game than the PS4 version that released while running very smoothly.

I’m a patient gamer. Id rather play something closer to the PC version than the nonsense that was the PS4 version through back compat.

I picked this one up for $10 with Steelbook and on PS5 I've had a blast so far. Very minor visual glitches occasionally, but never anything that halted my progress or pulled me out of the experience. Can't wait for the upgrade.

Personally cyberpunk 2077 was my game of the year. Bugs were hilarious to me. Meme worthy. Made my experience more fun. Played it over 100 hours. Finished it 3 times. Will never trust gaming media reviews ever again. Played it before i read the terrible reviews. Cyberpunk will never be perfect so i suggest playing it just to enjoy story characters and missions. Can finish in 10 hours

Arguably the release of 2020 or 2021 if it was released a year ago?

Bought it at Black Friday for 15 Euro, will probably wait for the PS5 upgrade. But it already seems to be a good experience. Even on PS4, it seems playable now, and I don‘t believe that they can improve the performance on these machines a lot compared to today’s 1.31.

I was so ready for this game way back when it was announced, but when they said it would be first person, my interest flew out the window.
I'm glad I lost my interest early on, considering how it all went down. Dodged a bullet there. haha

its an ok game but even if they tart it up qnd get it running nice it still doesnt hide the fact it plays like a 2010 Bethesda game

Feels like its gonna be some resolution and raytrace update and addons which i will never buy if they dont create some police system(the least they should do).Cringe every time at that cops sound huahah horrific

I really like Cyberpunk 2077. CDPR deserves some backlash for shady PR issues and the state of the game for large swathes of people at and after release. Widespread, consistent crashing is unacceptable (though I didn’t face this problem). With that said, they should also be commended on some level for refunding the product. Moving forward, if CDPR can make good on delivering a polished upgrade and humble their future marketing campaigns with a healthy dose of reality, then I believe the future is still bright for the studio. There are a lot more positives to glean from the game than negatives for me. I look forward to another play through.

I'm 23hrs in and can't put it down. It's the only game that can share the top with GTAV.The colourful graphics are nice, the vehicles, the UI, fonts, everything's great. It could've simply worked flawlessly this time last year if they reduced the number of assets, it's the most packed game I've ever seen. It's my GOTY.

The longer you wait to play cyberpunk the more disappointing it will be.

I played it on release day before the avalanche of negative reviews. Worst part was crashing, but i enjoyed missions and story a lot

Bugs, glitches, and performance can always be fixed through updates. What can't and most likely won't be fixed are the inconsistencies in the writing and core gameplay elements like the one dimensional quests.

I always get the urge to jump back in, but then I remember all the subsurface problems this game has that will only be fixed with a sequel or reboot. Biggest waste of potential since Anthem

Set all of the bugs a lies aside, and Cyberpunk is still just half baked. It is missing most of what was promised, it is clearly unfinished, and in turn to supplement that they populated the map with a bunch of constantly repeating side tasks on par with a Ubisoft game.

It just isn't that fun of a game to play because its unfinished, and as a result much of what it has to offer is just mediocre including its story. CDPR is now on par with the activisions, and EAs of the world whether you want to admit that or not. For that, they will never be more than a bargain bin purchase going forward. If anything, I appreciate this fraud they pulled only because it shed light on just how toxic CDPR is, I had no idea how troubled their workplace culture and development cycles have been going back as far as witcher 2.

Remember when everyone was saying pre-launch that this would be GOTY? XD What a story...

I enjoyed cyberpunk missions more than missions in gta 5. Cyberpunk gave me more freedom to finish missions than gta 5. Gta has fewer bugs, but i enjoyed cyberpunk more.

I bought it half price on Black Friday for XSX. I was pleasantly surprised by what I saw in general. I actually like the setting less than I pictured. More grit than I really wanted. And the visuals have that low-res blurred PS360 era look to them even on XSX/PS5 BC. But there was also a compelling aspect to it just finishing through the opening chapter and getting back to V's apartment. It may get boring once you hit an open world, but so far I do find it an intriguing game, yet a game made for the backlog. I'm curious to see what the next gen patch does. Some of these "iffy backlog games" become the all-time favorites when you play them years away from the hype and enjoy them for what they are.

@trev666 2010 Bethesda games are cool. The problem is when it's a 2018 Bethesda game....

@ApostateMage It was 5 hours. It just felt longer and the game has a bug that makes it read 605.

Can’t believe it’s been a year! What a crazy year it’s been too lol.

Anyways I played this game about 80% of the way through before putting it down. Then when I picked it back up again I made a new character; got maybe 20% of the way in and put it down again.

I like the story and gameplay but the world itself felt kind of lifeless to me, and I didn’t care much for the loot system.

IMO they should’ve leaned harder into how they did things with the Witcher 3. Give us great side stories and leave all the tedious tasks as question marks that can be explored if you feel like it, so they’re not as distracting.

@KundaliniRising333 Thank you for bringing up the cut content and lies that mostly everyone in the comments seems to be ignoring cause they think the bugs was the only issue about the game.

A whole year and it’s still not finished. AI sucks and so does the small details to do with interacting with the world. Driving, Npc behaviour etc etc. all still bad. And STILL no current gen version. They deserve to be roped to the back of a horse and dragged a few kilometres. Either that or being tarred and feathered

Better mission design than gta 5. Cut content but still 50+ hours of content. And new dlc content coming in 2022

Game still broken after a full year of fixes. Game crashes albeit not as much as before. Character models still the a few minutes to load in. I've not played in six months. Started a new game recently. Last time I played the racing missions, the car was literally falling through the road(incredibly bad clipping). Hopefully that they've at least fixed that issue

I love the concept and wish more triple A studio explore the Cyberpunk theme.This is why I'm not too harsh on CD Project Red..at least they tried unlike most triple A studios and the game itself can become better if they continued to work on it. I look forward to the next-gen version of Cyberpunk 2077. (and hopefully some good DLC)

I have it down to four words - great potential, mostly wasted. Sure I enjoyed my 60-80 hours even though I basically just goofed around and never finished the story, but I've never been compelled to return.

I managed to enjoy my PS4 playthrough despite the poor performance, bugs and crashes. Despite the many flaws, it had a great story with great characters.

Am looking forward to playing the PS5 version when it's released.

I played the whole game on my 6ish year old ps4 and, while the performance did let the game down massively, I would still call it one of my favourite games of all time. I get why people would be put off by the game and by CDPR as a whole following the whole debacle, but I'd definitely recommend giving it a try if you can find it preowned/on sale though.

@Blacksmith1985 Change it to Complete Edition this certainly wasnt a GOTY edition.

I saw a few other channels talking about the game but one thing i noticed that i noticed. That nobody called the game brilliant. There was a lot of fine and decent thrown around. Ill get the game when its a complete edition physical release by that time its fixed and well lets hope mire complete. The most i hear that it is mediocre with some good design in there. But one thing thats everywhere and ghat is that they say skip the PS4 and Xbox One versions of the game. Its still runs crappy and i has massive texture pop in.

@Flaming_Kaiser I finished it 3 times and I think the story and missions are brilliant - especially the mission dealing with crucifixion. Maybe try actually playing the gaming and forming your own opinion instead of blindly listening to gaming media?

@Londoncalling No i wont im not paying a single € untill it gets a full review that its fully fixed. I rather buy some smaller games that deserve my cash. Im happy that the gaming media prevented me wasting €60 on fhis dumpsterfire.

I made up my own mind after GTA Definitive Edition and Cyberpunk made me see that big 3rd party studio's cant be trusted.

I have a lot less problems with FOMO now the game will still be around in a few years probably in a better state and mostly complete.

@Jimmer-jammer Why should they be praised for refunds they lied to the people faces and pushed back reviews. The only thing i learned is that the law needs to get up to speed on digital material ans ghar the consumer needs to be better protected against these kind od things.

If you ignore the bugs, it’s a decent game with an engaging story and fantastic character writing, but it was sold entirely on lies. Whether or not you think the game is good, you can’t escape the fact that CDPR overhyped it to the moon and flat out lied to everyone about how robust and deep the game would be. I’m not sure I’ll ever forgive them, was a huge fan of theirs and they spent what, 5x 30 min episodes of pure hype drivel on YouTube? The gall

@Flaming_Kaiser i stopped paying attention to media reviews after cyberpunk. If i think a game looks cool i play it regardless of the reviews. I played cyberpunk on release day. Seems like you are too close minded to ever play cyberpunk

Over a year eh? ... and I'm interested less in it than I was a year ago. Go figure.
Maybe I'll pick it up when it's in a $5.00 bin like I did with Fallout76. At that price, I'd say it's worth my money.

I will buy it again when its £5 and they actually finished it.

@Jimmer-jammer You are right they did something not illegal and it only shows how terrible customer protection is handled because politics is behind a decades with legislation.

They lied and cheated and made a handsome profit with it in any other branch it would have been false advertising ans a refund woukd have been required.

And since they never released the official PS5 and Xbox its 100% the truth that they released a broken nearly unplayable mess. I dont care how much they fixed it its still discouraged to buy if you only hace the older consoles .

Releasing it on last gen was a huge mistake. CDPR should've delayed the game until now and released it exclusively on next gen and PC.

@Flaming_Kaiser You haven't played a second of cyberpunk. Thats like watching some construction videos on youtube and thinking you can build a house. Play and finish cyberpunk instead of hating on a game you have never played.

@Londoncalling If he's a hater then so am I cause I actually played the game and can confirm his issues with the game itself. The devs lied about the content present in the game, they lied about the state of the console versions. There is no choice making(Not to mention practically none of them ever matter), there is no metro system, there is no random events happening in the world, AI is screwed up for police(Not to mention you can literally drive away from police and get away cause they couldn't implement AI to learn how to get inside and drive a car) and civilians(In fact there is no AI for civilians), there is still bugs present in the console versions, the game sometimes fails to pop in cause I'm driving too fast, animations failing to work properly like simply climbing a ladder, etc., etc. Game isn't all bad cause gameplay is fun and the story along with its characters(Although some short lived) are fantastic.

@Nepp67 Congratulations- Kaiser only researches hate about cyberpunk and has never played the game. The game is enjoyable - I've finished it 3 times already.
