Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – the game based on Sony’s smash hit anime – will release in October in Japan, according to a flyer included with Blu-ray copies of the film. Sony Music Entertainment subsidiary Aniplex is slated to publish the game, with CyberConnect 2 on development duties – and it’ll release on PlayStation 5, PS4, PC, and Xbox.
There’s no word yet on whether the title will launch in Western territories, although SEGA has confirmed plans to localise an English language version in Asia. It’s unknown if this will arrive alongside the Japanese release in October. Nevertheless, it’ll be interesting to see how the game performs, because Demon Slayer has taken the continent by storm.

A situation like this is where I truly don't understand the lack of synergy between Sony studios. You have one of the biggest IP in Japan, literally breaking records, why not do a JRPG based on this IP with a big budget?
Another anime arena fighter huh
If you want to make an anime-based fighting game just give it ArcSys lol
Yet another bland anime adaptation serving you arena fighter realness. Pass.
Yeah great what about over here? Why are we still doing this staggared release date ***** 😑
@Omnistalgic Playstation is now run by old western man in suits. They don't see the interest in making an Anime game. All we get now is middle age people running around a dark gritty open world.
@Floki Ratchet and Clank literally just came out. Last time I checked, Ratchet wasn’t a middle aged man and it wasn’t an open world game.
@nessisonett Can't wait for the final game in the series to star Ratchet as an old man in the post-apocalypse and it's just called "Ratchet"
@TheFrenchiestFry I feel like Old Man Clank would be the better title though 😂
@nessisonett Poor example. Ratchet and Clank is a 20 year old franchise at this point, and have earned the respect.
@TheFrenchiestFry You joke about that... But we now have a female Lombax, so anything is a possibility
@Floki Sackboy launched with the system and the PS5 came packed in with Astro as well
Even if their heavier narrative stuff is more down to earth and Westernized they aren't completely devoid of lighter franchises. Hell I'm surprised no one brought up Spider-Man on the subject of Insomniac
Every big anime/manga needs the usual arena fighter game right?
@Omnistalgic Fair enough. However, this also can work as a fighter as well. Fairy Tail wasn't an arena fighter. It was a proper JRPG. It can also work as a fighter too though.
@Floki Oh so you’re a good old fashioned sexist then too. Brilliant. Literally who cares about there being a female Lombax?
@nessisonett Old Man Clank will be a direct sequel to Secret Agent Clank.
@TheFrenchiestFry It the same thing with Sackboy as it is with Ratchet and Clank... It's an old respected franchise.
Astro is the last remaining gem from the old age of PlayStation. Lets see if they continue to treat him as nothing but a pack in title, or give team asobi the AAA budget to make an actual game.
Spider-Man is a middle age person in a open world... They want a story about mature and an aged Spider-Man XD
@nessisonett What...? Since when did I say i had an issue with Rivet. I love Rivet.
@Floki Spider-Man also does not at all align with the whole "running around in a dark gritty world" thing. Neither does Horizon really
Gran Turismo doesn't even involve running at all
Rather they make something like Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot. That said Fairy Tail was awful.
I am just not into fighting games. But love the Anime
@Agramonte I'm really happy too be honest I absolutely loved the Naruto Ultimate Ninja series and followed it from the start so Demon Slayer Storm is A ok in my book
@lolwhatno Before you try to and make a smart remark about my comment. Maybe you should re-read what I posted. Sony's Funimation Global Group that bought Crunchyroll, not Playstation.
I have no need to edit or change my comment. Cause no body have yet to proven me wrong... We have literary gotten less and less Anime style games from Playstation themselves over the PS4 generation. They naming off franchise 20 and 10 years old. Isn't proving them correct.
What happened to stuff like White Knight Chronicles: Origins, Freedom wars, Oreshika: Tainted Bloodlines, No Hero Allowed... etc?
Playstation have completely step away from games like this, and the only reason we continue to see them on the system is cause of 3rd party support.
@Keyblade-Dan Ok, so now I am confused. This is like the Naruto: Ultimate Ninja Storm series?
@TheFrenchiestFry Horizon is a post apocalyptic world with killer dino robots... Just cause it bright and colorful doesn't mean it not also dark and gritty world
@Agramonte Yeah this is being made by the same developer CyberConnect2 and it'll play quite similarly so I'm really excited the character roster is looking really good my favourite character is in so I'm all set 😁
@Keyblade-Dan Oh wow!... I thought it was a fighting game like GrandBlue. NS: Ultimate Ninja Storm 2/3/4 were some of my favorite games.
You just saved this for me 😃
Is it a fighting game or rpg? I really wish its an rpg. I'm not into fighting games.
Demon Slayer is so successful. It needs a real game with it's own identity. It would be a great bridge. Instead we get such a cheap template that's practically just disrespecting the anime.
@CutchuSlow Arena fighter like any other anime game.....
@Agramonte https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=NS1eBDfKbL8 Here's a short bit of Tanjiro gameplay it is essentially Demon Slayer Storm 😁
@Keyblade-Dan There is two being made one a fighter the other a rpg. I thought the rpg was put on hold? So this would be the fighter would it not...
@Darthrau Yeah this the CC2 fighting game
@Agramonte Fairy Tail was so unpolished with 5 NPC designs copies in the entire city. I dont mind a little less polish but man that game was/is a joke.
@Flaming_Kaiser And only 1 of them actually walked. I played it on Switch and somehow those 5NPC types still managed to crush the FPS.
There was a fountain in town that the texture work was straight up flat gray. Unpolished is one word to describe it - thankfully it was a rental.
Be aware that this is the developer of Asura's Wrath, Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm series and others. They have good experience to nail this so let's keep those fingers crossed!
@Agramonte I bought it but it was so bad i cant bring myself to finish it. 😢
I hope this game fails hard, we need more anime RPGs or action adventures, not arena brawlers or "fighters".
