The arrival of LizardCube's gorgeous remake of Wonder Boy: The Dragon's Trap really did bring the franchise back from the dead. Monster Boy and the Cursed Kingdom put a more modern spin on things in 2018, and now, Wonder Boy: Asha in Monster World is on its way to PlayStation 4 later this year. This newest adventure is a remake of Mega Drive classic Monster World IV, and has key members of the original team working on it.
Today, a new trailer emerged, showcasing the game's cheery, colourful visual style and refinements to the gameplay. A physical version of the remake is due to release alongside the digital SKU, as seen in the video, with a vague release date of Q2 2021. A firm release date can't be too far away.

o wait... this is the bad remake from the bunch. was bound to happen sooner or later after being spoiled by the beautiful hand drawn ones.
Still prefer the original's look!
@Porco Looks like it, but heck, i’m still buying. Never played the original MW4 so i’ll try that one as well.
I’m also waiting for someone to remake Wonder Boy in Monster Land, we can skip Monster Lair.
Day one purchase for me.
A lot of classic games are getting the remake treatment as of late. With this and Alex Kidd, I feel like I’m better off with the originals.
I prefer the previous remake (wonderboy dragon trap) 2D graphics but this looks better than earlier previews
@RubyCarbuncle same here. 😁
I'll probably get it physically, since the 2D original is exclusive to the boxed release.
@Porco What makes it a bad remake? Or are you just expressing distaste for the art-style?
for me, it is the art direction, yes, but it also lacks the beautiful and fluid hand drawn aesthetic that was featured in the dragon's trap and cursed kingdom remakes. going from that level of quality to this is a great step down in my books and it is unfortunate the team did not get the same budget and resources to play with.
