Shadow Tactics: Blades of the Shogun is a highly rated strategy game that released for PlayStation 4 back in 2017. Set in Edo period Japan, it sees a small group of specifically skilled characters tackle a variety of high risk missions for the shogun. We called it "a serious tactical treat" in our 9/10 review.
And now, almost four years later, the game's getting an all-new expansion titled Aiko's Choice. Said expansion will be standalone, so you don't actually need the base game in order to play it, but the storyline will probably be more impactful if you're familiar with the original release. Indeed, the titular Aiko is one of Shadow Tactics' playable characters.
The expansion will apparently feature three full story missions as well as three 'interlude' missions, and it's due out later this year.

Oh nice one! This game was fantastic, but this expansion is completely out of the blue. Very nice.
Oh nice, this sounds good. I played Shadow Tactics on pc and loved it. I also played Desperados 3 and although I am more interested in Wild West, I found Shadow Tactics much more enjoyable.
Like to see more gameplay.....
That is great news!. Amazing game,
N.i.c.e. amazing game.still playing that game.word up son
When they first teased this in the show, I thought it was going to be a whole new game! This is great, don't get me wrong, but how cool would a new game for a new generation have been?
I think the original could do with a resolution bump, that would make it an essential purchase... It's all a little blurry for a game with such small characters...
Such a great game! Really need to go back and continue where I left off. There's too many gaaames!
Thats funny, just started my 2nd playthrough last week. I highly recommend this game
@Flurpsel been tempted to get this game but worried it may be too hard. Would you say it was difficult to complete?
@MJKatana No its not that hard. Of course it isnt easy but saving and loading is super fast so it's easy to just try something and if it doesnt work you just load your quick save.
Completing the missions is very doable with a bit of patience and good thinking, and theres also a hardcore difficulty and tons of challenges and different approaches for each mission so theres a lot of replay value and more difficulty if you'd want to.
And if you get stuck theres allways youtube where some guy does a speedrun while blindfolded or something
By the way I believe its on sale for just 5euro in the EU PS Store so thats a no brainer if you ask me
@Flurpsel thanks for your reply, just ordered a physical version of it as it was really cheap
@MJKatana Cool! Im sure you'll enjoy it if you're even remotely into the genre
