Sony will officially take pre-orders for the PlayStation 5 in Egypt starting 25th March, but you may need to raid a pyramid to afford the next-gen platform. The console will sell for 15,999 Egyptian Pounds, which on current exchange rates converts to just over $1,000. Presumably import taxes are to blame for the severe hike, but it’ll be a tough price to swallow for local gamers.

Accessories are not any more affordable: a spare DualSense will retail for $126 while the Pulse 3D Wireless Headset will cost $177. Impenetrably expensive, then, and it’ll be interesting to see how many units the Japanese giant actually expects to sell with these kind of prices attached. Good luck to our Egyptian readers…
