Mafia: Definitive Edition is on the home-straight ahead of its delayed 25th September release date, and publisher 2K Games is ramping up consumer enthusiasm with a series of trailers dedicated to different aspects. This first edition includes a brief look at the recreated world of Lost Heaven, which is based upon the PlayStation 2 game but has been converted to the developer’s Mafia III engine. It looks lovely, as expected really – we’re looking forward to embedding ourselves in the underbelly of 1930s America once more.

Ah just hearing that theme music at the end hit me.

Can't wait to experience the story of Tommy Angelo all over again.

I’m really looking forward to this, never played a Mafia game so appreciate the opportunity to play the whole trilogy.

I never did play the first Mafia game so barring rubbish reviews or major bugs I'll be picking this up in a few weeks.

Nothing in this is based on the PS2 port. Mafia was very much a pc game first. It's not a "PS2" game. That's like saying Horizon is a PC game

Preordered and can’t wait.

Love Mafia themed games and this looks like it’s a new best in genre.

A godfather remake would be welcome

I have high hopes that this will be one of those games that after the credits roll i will want to immediately play the game again.

@BrettAwesome Frankly, it was kinda garbage on PS2. Loved it on PC though...

Still waiting to find out whether this is going to be targeting PS4 with a higher resolution or framerate on PS5 thrown in, or whether this will have stuff like raytracing and improved haptics to make it actually worth having on PS5.

My PC with a GTX1060(6GB) will already run this at 4k better than a PS4 and I own the series on Steam, so trying to decide whether to take advantage of a series discount there, or wait for a potentially better experience on PS5...

@nessisonett as long as you go into it looking for an epic sweeping narrative rather than an open world game I'd expect you're in for a treat.

The third game kinda suffers from trying to go a little more open world which hurts the core gameplay loop, but it's still a great game. The first two limit your open world activity to a free ride mode that's separated from the story, which I think allows the story to come through much stronger.
