Guerrilla Games confirmed earlier this week that it has a couple of patches in the works for the PC port of Horizon Zero Dawn, and just before the weekend rolls around, the first one can be downloaded. Update 1.01 contains just a couple of quick fixes to the game, but the developer promises that a more comprehensive one is on the way. It will arrive at some point next week. For more information, you can check out our thoughts through here.
The Horizon Zero Dawn PC update 1.01 patch notes are as follows:
Crash/Hang Fixes
- Fixed an issue where the game would crash if the SteamUI didn’t initialize properly on startup.
Functionality Issue Fixes
- Fixed an issue where Concentration and other slowdown mechanics wouldn’t work for everyone.
- Fixed an issue where Windows/Steam profile names containing special characters would prevent some players from saving the game. We are still investigating other saved game issues as well.
- Fixed an issue where Windows/Steam profile names containing special characters would prevent some players from saving screenshots in Photo Mode.
Other Fixes
- Added improved diagnostic data collection when submitting a crash report.
- Fixed several backend issues.
- Fixed a video corruption issue for specific hardware. We’re continuing to look at other hardware configurations as well.

If Guerilla don't fix it the community will
@rjc-32 Yeah, that's the great thing with PC gaming. Hopefully they'll make a mod to make it so you can move the camera in photo mode when you're in a town. That always bothered me in the original.
Who cares, this is a playstation site?!
Nice,... but every time I see news on this it just makes me want a PS5 and Forbidden West already
it is unfortunate that the game has received a lot of flack over the shoddy pc port and as such is damaging the image of the brand. we all know how ruthless pc gamers can be when a game has technical issues (i.e. most pc games have technical issues because it is extremely difficult to optimize pc games). i feel like porting games to pc has many risks and pitfalls which sony has not considered. also, guerilla will have to pull resources away from forbidden west to work on this port and that is a headache the developers probably don't want or need. if sony is serious about porting its games to pc, they would be better off creating an in-house porting team to handle the responsibilities of all of its pc ports.
I didn't realize that I was visiting PC.mr.com
Great game!
Can't wait to play the next instalment on PS5 😎
@SaikoWaifu2003 no it doesnt
The PC version plays ok for a small majority is has had crash issues, myself I've been playing it at 1920x1080p and I don't quite get 60fps I get about 58 average and that's a ryzen 3600, 16gb 3200mhz ram rx580 8gb. I have 2 settings to ultra the rest medium and to be honest if they the big patch comes and then GPU drivers give it a boost it will be fine.
I can see Sony releasing this for PS5 as a bundle with the 2nd game if no one's played the first and wishes too.
@Deljo Lmfao! Why are you and so many other die hard PlayStation fanboys on this site so butt hurt about them porting this game to PC? Like really? 😂😂😂
@JesWood13 ??? No issue at all with any ps game being ported to PC, where did you get that from? My point was who cares about a pc games patch notes on a playstation fan site...
@Deljo i was thinking the same thing. I dont care at all that a ps exclusive got ported to pc, but i also dont care about a update for it.
@ellsworth004 Exactly, I'm sure somewhere theres a website called push ctrl, alt, delete where this article might be relevant...
@SaikoWaifu2003 so i should just agree with every article on this site??? Kinda makes a comment section useless if we cant express our opinion. I love this site, ive been a member for several years. So i hope i have generated ad traffic. Its ok to not like something. I was just agreeing with someones comment.
@SaikoWaifu2003 tbh i really dont care. I just agreeed with what someone said. Im done talking about this.
It does seem to be quite a poor porting effort. One thing that is very surprising is it also has problems on some systems running Ryzen2 CPUs and RDNA GPUs. I would have presumed the PC port would have, in part, readied the games PS5 patch, so expecting good performance on that hardware.
@JesWood13 I do agree with him this has nothing too do with PS gaming.
