Capcom Europe has today released a statement regarding the status of Resident Evil 3, which is on the cusp of release. Due out on 3rd April 2020, the survival horror title is just days away, but the world's elevated measures against coronavirus left many assuming the game would be pushed back. There's good news and bad news.
The release date for the game isn't budging an inch -- Resi 3 is still coming at the start of April as planned. However, physical copies of the game may be in short supply on launch day. "Although the global release date of Resident Evil 3 remains April 3, 2020, some European markets may experience delayed deliveries or availability of physical goods, including disc copies of games," the publisher says.
It's working with retail and distribution partners to ensure it's following the right measures, but it sounds like this will ultimately mean physical editions of the game will turn up later than anticipated. Capcom is instructing anyone with pre-orders for disc copies to contact their retailer for more accurate updates.
This sort of upheaval is to be expected, given the current conditions, but hopefully any pre-orders will be fulfilled relatively swiftly. We'll have to wait and see. We would anticipate game releases over the next couple of months to face similar problems.

Yeah i'm getting all games i want this year digitaly for the rest of the year just to be sure.
I just got confirmation that my copy of Persona 5 Royal has been dispatched but im not holding out much hope for Final Fantasy 7. I'll pick up Resi 3 later in the year as i still need to tick Resi 2 off my backlog
It’s a digital revolution!!
@kyleforrester87 agree i just like having everything on the console. especially when half time now the patches are same size as stuff on disc anyway.
I'm gonna be most pee'd off if my Resident Evil 3 pre-order doesn't arrive on time. Ordered it months ago for £38.
If I have to cancel it to play it on release day, it will cost me £50 for a digital copy.
I know this damn virus has messed the world up, but I can still be annoyed if I want to be.
I emailed GameStop about this out of curiosity as the stores are all closed here now anyway. They insist that all online orders will be shipped on time.
@Shepherd_Tallon I emailed my supplier, but still have had no response
Thats one of the reason I only collect retro physical games. They don't really exist if you think about it. For example I have both the day one edition and royal edition disk versions of Final Fantasy 15 and the game is way better that the data on both disks.
@belmont that's why I have hundreds of ps3 games and only about 100 ps4 games.
All my ps3 games run practically perfect of the disk with no patches required.
Every so often I will buy maybe another half dozen or so and it will be half the price of a new ps4 game.
This is y I always go digital
@GoodGame It will be delayed forsure
It’s to be expected due to the current climate we find ourselves in. If people here in the UK are on a tight budget and bothered about having to pay full price for digital games, there’s always Boomerang Rentals to rent your games from £9.99 a month. I only just received my copy of Doom Eternal yesterday even though it was sent last Thursday, again Royal Mail delays expected.
I'm ok with this as I will be buying the digital version due to no steelbook anyway.Still sucks for people though.
I'm still determined to keep my physical copy of Final Fantasy VII Remake preorder on however.
Does that make RE3 is the new TP?
I'm keeping my pre-order with The Game Collection. If it means I have to wait a bit longer to get my copy so be it. If we don't support these stores through these times then they might not be around when it all settles down.
Sure everything will be digital download eventually but I'll continue with physical discs as long as it's an option,
Damn that sucks, thankfully physical new games in Malaysia still remain steady.
@LN78 While I understand the sentiment, at least here in NA there's a flash sale nearly every month, sometimes several in a single month, that always feature heavily discounted games far below their physical copy MSRP. I do agree digital copies cost far too much, developers only get roughly $27 of the $60 after all so a digital copy should only retail for $30, but they're often on sale for such a steal that you simply can't ignore it anymore.
I went all digital in 2018, starting with the release of Spider-Man. Since then the number of games I've purchased a year has probably tripled, and I was a huge supporting of the GCU program from Best Buy. Add in the fact that I gameshare (2 of every console in my house) and the savings become even more apparent.
The best thing for any gamer to do today, is to go all digital. Buy the 3 - 4 games a year you simply cannot do without, and everything else just wait 3 months for it to drop below $30. Honestly, if you can't wait a few months or even a year for a game, you either don't play enough to have a backlog to catch up on and therefore I feel you should just eat the cost, or you have an impulsive nature. Gaming is only as expensive as you make it, but you can pad it out for relatively cheap.
